this is probably the worst post I have ever done - however I seem to go through tin-opners like chocolate!!!

The last one lived for about 2 weeks and then died a very sorry death - so I would like to invest for the long-term and buy the dogz danglyz tin-opener - any suggestions - make, model, shop etc!!!

Like I said - I am not proud - its the worst post ever - sorry.

PS - but hey look on the bright side - I did post it in the right section - could have been worser!!!

Every tin opener we get seems to either not work at all, or last for about 3 cans.

Are electric ones any better?
That because your buying cheap rubbish.

Go to your local cook shop and buy a can opener for £10. Not only will it glide over the can effortlessly it will last years as well.

There are ones that open without leaving sharp edges, they sort of cut the seal on the tin and the end stays on, I don't know what they are called though.

I've got an electric tin opener. It works great, only problem is my mother insists on it being in the cupboard. So when I have to open a tin I have to take it out, plug it in, use it, unplug and put away. Takes longer than a normal tin opener, waste of space. Think I may buy a descent hand one (I always seem to get crap ones that break aswell).

You dont say!? :p

Although, I've always found just buying a mid-to high price ranged one from tescos does the job.

When I was camping last summer, everyone laughed at me for having a tin opener, it was just a really cheapo all metal one.
They laughed until they wanted to borrow it

thanks for the replies guys/gals - was hoping for an online solution (not a virtual can opener before anyone offers to e.mail/fax one over)

Anyway - I dont know whats sadder - me for posting this very sad thread or the fact that there are people here who . . .

a - know exactly what I am talking about
b - have an opinion about a
c - are bothering to reply

PS - the ones we have bought (twice) cost £5 from Sainsbury's - made of SSteel - work perfectly for a couple of tinnies and then die or catch my knuckles

PPS - its mainly used for opening CAT food - not our food - we can cook proper!!!
