The Best Way to Fix a Ford!

Some of you wont be surprised

as some may know i was having a problem with the st, it wouldnt start. We figured it out to be the fuel pump, but got an auto electrician to come and have alook hoping it was the immobilser or a fuse or something.

He turns up, at half 8 this morning (very good service), plugs in the gadgetry that tells him the fuel pump secondary circuit is fubar, which basically means the actual fuel pump.

Then he walks over to his little Vauxhall van, thats lower than my mondeo on the same size wheels

pulls out the above ^^ lifts the rear seats up, and proceeds to smack hell out of the top of the fuel pump!

I was shocked, as im sure anyone would be. But then he stood up, put keys ignition, kicked it over and low and behold she started.

Impressed, yet oddly unsurprised. I made him a coffee, and then took the car out.

tyres on Thurday/Friday in the ST220 would have cost me about £500

Not looking too bad now. When I signed it had been going for a while already but well under 10k sigs.

Isn't that a quick get you to a proper garage and have the fuel pump changed fix though? You can do the same with duff starter motors but it won't work forever.

Could still end up being a costly job.

aye! and yea he said it wont work forever, not that i expected it to. Im just waiting a call back on how much its gonna be for a new fuel pump.

My gearlinkage on my Escort snapped 150 mile from home, I managed to get underneath and select 2nd and limped to a bodyshop who welded it back on for me. I was told it would not last long. 1 year later traded the car still welded

. Good luck though, do you have breakdown cover. If so I would take the risk dependant on how much it costs to replace.
