How many of you attended a gig that has gone down in rock and roll folklore?

Live Aid, perhaps? Or Oasis at Knebworth?

In my own case, I think I can claim to have attended 2 that merit inclusion in any list of all time great shows.

The first was Pink Floyd in Piazza San Marco in Venice in 1988. Incredible experience, just can't come up with enough superlatives to describe this show but I just remember being utterly spellbound by the light show and had goosebumps throughout.

The other was The Prodigy at the Phoenix in 1996. Their was an air of expectancy about this show, so much so that people were just dumping their cars on the way into the festival in order to get into the arena before the set began. In my own case, I missed Maxim's opener & Flinty was already on stage by the time I'd worked my way to somehere approaching the front ofbthe crowd, which was a seething mass, the like of which I've never been part of since. Incredible.

One more "Boomer" rearing his ugly head here.
Knebworth 1976............................................no not the Rolling Stones. Lynyrd Skynyrd, at the time hardly anyone in the audience had heard of them, let alone actually heard them. When that set finished the entire audience was going mad with jubilation, me included.
Skynyrd blew everyone off the stage that Saturday evening, including the Stones. It's still a legendary concert even now.

Inneresting connection time.

Back in '77 when, I was still knee height to a grasshopper, I went with a neighbour's family to the Glastonbury Festval.

That year, it wasn't held at Worthy Farm but up on the ridge running south of Glastonbury and Street.

The pyramid stage that year was, in fact, the sound engineers' tent from the '76 Knebworth show.

And the Knebworth main stage from '76 went on to serve as the main stage of the Roskilde Festival for many years.
