The BIG Weekend - At OcUK!

Hmmm I'm bit scepticle about that review Stu. Gotta remember they're using the cheap corsair fans, not blowing extra air through to the mobo like you're s'posed to when using water cooling of any type and we dont know what thermal compound they're using and they're using an i7 950, not SB which is meant to be a bit cooler anyway. Way too many variables just to take their review at face value.

EDIT: I'd also make sure I'm using push/pull on any closed loop CPU cooler.

Agreed, not all reviews are made equal ;)

Im more worried about the sloshing water that can be heard, people with water cooling gear go to great pains to get trapped air out of their systems for good reason.

Guys, I have a Geforce GTX 460 1GB, which I run OCed at 800 / 1600 with 4GHz memory. Would it be worth grabbing one of these 5850's for 99 bucks if I were to also OC the 5850? I game at 1920x1200, and I hear the 5850 is better at this resolution...

I currently have an AMD Athlon II X3 450 OCed to 3.2GHz, and will also order a AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1090T Black Edition 3.20GHz processor to go with this if I do order today methinks...

A 5850 OC would be better than a GTX 460 (standard) if you have a hawk or similiar then maybe no point changing.

I can understand that concern, but then I guess they wouldn't sell if they were likely to leak all the time? Or is it a performance issue?

Also, aren't you supposed to hold the rad up high just to make sure all the air goes to the top?

It is a performance issue.

And if the air is trapped at the top of the rad, then the area around it wont be cooling as effectively.

True. Would be good if there was some way to either get the air out or put more liquid in to fill it up.
