Hey all
Brookhaven has finally been released and so far it feels like the arcade shooter i wanted in VR.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/440630/
Back up to its full price of £14.99 i got to say, i think it will be worth it.
After hammering the demo, my gut feeling was that i would blast through the full game in my first sitting....i was very wrong!
so you are faced with a choice of campaign and survival. campaign will not unlock any new levels or weapons/perks for that matter, until you have completed the previous level.
weapon unlocks/addons and perks are found within each level, some are obvious to spot, others give off a slight glisten where they are hidden-a nostalgic retro arcade tough, much like operation wolf! and here is the catch, you do not get to own that unlock until you complete the level....and that can be tough once you run out of ammo....or battery!!
Survival has waves much like the demo which allow you to spend earned credit on the unlocks before the next round. you get to experience the later level environments here and use the weapons too. the shotgun is very satisfying!
anyway , enough talk, what does everyone else think?
i am hoping there will be scoreboards/challenges etc later but this could take a while to get through, i counted about 10 levels and i got to number 4. luckily you can start from any level you have unlocked.
this guy has done a video with no narration, which makes a nice change!

I liked the demo more than I thought I would. It's very unnerving just standing there with 360 degree vulnerability. Some of those corridors appear to offer more protection that outdoors and look like less stress :D

There some levels that have a below and above hazard. It is well though out for a stand still kind of game. The real problem is that the tourch doesn't light up certain areas or runs out of battery, then it gets quite tense.

Fantastic game.

I played the demo and bought the full game during steam sale.

I've also played Hordez - which i don't recommend and refunded. Brookhaven at's that element of fear to it, which is what makes the game appeal to me so much.

Yeah, the torch beam reach is stupid. Trying shine it down a tunnel and nothing.
Plus it runs out way too quick. What type of batteries are they using?

It's still a tense game though plus it's fun trying to find the unlocks :)

Well, big update!
It downloaded last week or so but not had the rime to try it until this morning.
Stats wiped so have to start over.
Supersampling options are there!! Hurray for more vr games doing this.
Gun angle options too and wait for it..... The flashlight works better! In fact, the levels themselves have more light and detail.
The gun appears to be loads smaller and the character shorter? Maybe thats me but could do with an option to adjust that for better realism.
The perks seem to be one per level now, unless they are well hidden.
There is also a difficulty setting too but normal is tough enough for me.
Really good to see the updates coming through after release. Enjoy people!

Played this for the first time tonight with a mate, so can't speak about previous versions of it. I'd never bothered messing about with supersampling, can't believe how much of a difference it makes.
Absolutely great game to play! I guess a VR House of the Dead style.
Got to the storm drain, and found myself stuck!

Just played this again after the update and its a ton better gameplay wise. Did have a few bugs in the forrest level where the big monsters would kind of fly up in the air and land nearby. The guns also are too small.
