I don't normally venture into this part of the forum as I don't have a motor but my missus' daughters bf just got a car so I thought I'd get him some car related stuff for his Christmas (yes I know it's only October!) The simple gift would be car cleaning stuff. So the question is whats the go to cleaning gear?

heres a good start :

This is a good suggestion but I'd add/counter with a more "working class" kit including:

Grit Bucket x2 - you can get these cheaper on Amazon I am sure:

Shampoo - smaller/cheaper elsewhere:

Drying Towel - again, better available from cleanyourcar or detailingworld (Korean Microfibre):

Having bought/had all the gimmicks as a young lad, these are the 2/3 things that, with the benefit of hindsight, would have been staples I'd have over lots of experimentation type products.

Cheers for the suggestions. I was trying to remember the brand that I've seen in the images of items you've bought thread in gd and I'm sure it was the autoglym stuff but I knew this would be the place to confirm it!

Snow foam or pre citrus pre wash, what's the best?

I bought some prewash, sprayed over car, left to dwell then used a cordless pressure washer to blast it all off. They are only 22bar, but it left a film on the car.

Would snow foam be better at lifting the film? Or do I need 100bar!?

Depends on what snow foam you used, but no snow foam will fully clean your car without elbow grease, but bilt hamber touchless in the best
I used valet pro citrus prewash, not snow foam.

So better off with bilt hamber than snow foam then?

Edit - ordered some bilt hamber.

5L of Autobrite Citrus Wash £18 on Amazon - Ordered one for myself.

Citrus Pre Wash is my go to recently, will come in handy during this up coming winter, I find it less faff than snowfoam and just apply it using a pump sprayer.

Edit: Looking for Wash Mitt recommendations? Using one of the more expensive Noodle Mitts atm but find it holds too much water and is a chore to use.

Currently short listed the following.

Meguires - Microfibre Wash Mitt
Sonax - Microfibre Wash Glove

I use one of these (when there isn't a bloody hose pipe ban anyway!) No complaints here.

I'm absolutely exhausted! Decided that with the car being extremely filthy due to not cleaning it with the hose pipe ban, I would go back to lugging 20l of water from the flat to the car park several times. With it being so dirty, went for a full decon wash.

Pre-washed with touch-less snow foam, descale snow foam, shampoo wash with reset, full spray over with Korrosol then agitated Korrosol with a wash mitt and a bucket of Gyeon PPF wash (also has fall out remover in it). All dried off with a towel and Koch Chemie FSE.

Jesus, Koch Chemie Plas Star doesn't half stink!

I tend to use all Mitts like a sponge, my current noodle mitt absorbs that much water it’s a chore to use, would fall off my hand.

Picked up a cheapo “Kent’s - Noodle Sponge” reduced from £6 to £1… Will see how I go with it, worse case scenario will use for the final face clean of the alloys.
