The Chinese are coming: Loongson 9A2000 gives RTX 2080-level performance

This sounds interesting but one thing I have learned from buying Chinese phones and smart watches is the support and software is lacking. I have had excellent phones and watches from ticwatch and oneplus but inevitably switch back to brands with better software support i.e. pixel and samsung. I would be very hesitant with GPUs due to the same reason, but hey I would like to be proved wrong.

I always thought about buying one of the Moorethreads cards for a laugh, as they're pretty cheap.
Drivers are everything, but without anyone owning the things, they'll struggle to see improvement in that area. We'll see what happens. So many times we've heard about another player entering the market, only to be disappointed. Feel like Loongson are a big enough company though.

Gpu needs proper driver support. Look at how intel have had to work to get arc sorted compared to launch.
I'd be worried about china GPU only having launch day drivers and nothing available after

They will be based on stolen Nvidia or AMD designs most likely. So expect butchered versions of those drivers.
