Hey again. I was looking it up for few days and now I think I need to make a final choice and order new graphics card and PSU. My PC specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz
3GB (3072MB) RAM
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
nVidia GeForce 8500GT
300w power supply
Monitor - HP w1907v 19"
Resolutions that I usually play at - 1440x900

My budget is £185. These are 2 graphics cards that I thought about:

Graphics Card 1 (This week only offer)

Graphics Card 2

These are few Power Supplies that I thought about:

Power Supply 1 "THERMALTAKE"

Power Supply 2 "COOLERMASTER"

Power Supply 3 "XILENCE"

Power Supply 4 "HIPER"

Power Supply 5 "OCZ"

Power Supply 6 "CORSAIR"

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-008-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1084 (This week offer only, Out of Stock - would I still be able to order it?)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-006-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1084

Power Supply 7 "GIGABYTE"
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-022-GI&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1096

Power Supply 8 "OcUK"
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-026-OK&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1105

Power Supply 9 "PC Power & Cooling"
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-005-PP&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1104

Choose from these and tell me which Graphics Card + Power Supply would be the best option and would it run on my PC. Remember my budget is £185. Thank you for your time and effort. Waiting for replies :)

EDIT: Competitors links removed.

You can keep the post here with the same info just remove the links to the competitor and link the manufacturers site instead if you need to?

Personally at that resolution I would go for the 8800GT but are you going to change your monitor anytime soon? if you are then the GTS would be a good option, I have one but spent nearly £200 before they dropped in price!

Also most people on here will recommend the corsair psu's as they seem stable, reliable and quiet. I think the 520w would be enough for you, but if you can stretch the budget then 620w for more future upgrades?

PM's don't work here.

As for your graphic cards choice it's simple. Get the cheapest card with the best warranty. I can recommend the Corsair brand as they are decent and have a decent warranty also.

Easy as that and I'm sure this is your third thread on the same matter .

I'm not planning to buy a new monitor any soon. This one is good for me, at least for now ;) And yes, this is my second or third thread because I really can't decide which one to go for... Anyway, is Thermaltake good or better than Corsair?

Well I was recently looking for a new PSU and was quite taken with the Thermaltakes, although I was looking at the higher wattage end of the range but they had great reviews, well built but some models had their fans on full all the time so made them noisey, you'll have to use google to see if any reviews exist of the one you are considering?

As for the cosair, personally they looked cheaply built and I wanted something of better quality, so passed on them, but in all fairness I dont have one so cant say for sure, lots of others have them on here and are more than happy with them so they cant be that bad?

Seems like you've got Cooler Master... Are they any good?

Love it :) Very solid build, great reviews, solid rails and output, very quiet, cant fault it so far, would recommend them

So do you think Cooler Master 520w would be the best choice? The only thing that worries me with it is that it is 520w. Would be ok for 8800GT I suppose but what about future SLi's etc? ;)

M8, you must be really stupid, as you've been told numerous times that linking of competitors isnt allowed and should be removed!

Why PNY 8800GT and not this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-044-EA&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1008 I mean just look at the specs. Greatly overclocked. Explain to me why PNY would be a better choice please :)

Hello majkkal, first of all, I would highly recommend removing all of the competitor links that you have posted before the entire thread gets removed. :)

Moving on - The above quote is from your other thread here. Since you have created a new thread, I thought I would reply in this one instead of bumping your old thread.

Now, to answer your question - The reason for choosing the PNY GeForce 8800 GT 512MB was because it is currently selling at an amazing price, you honestly can't beat it. The pre-clocked graphics cards are not worth the money over the standard ones in my opinion since you could quite easily overclock the graphics card yourself. Plus, you also then have a little more money to play with when it comes to purchasing a power supply unit.

As far as a power supply unit goes. I would have to recommend the Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU, it is honestly one of the best power supplies currently on the market.

Now, be slightly cautious when looking at purchasing a power supply unit since the overall wattage of a power supply isn't always a good indication to go by. One of the most important things to look for in a power supply is how many amps the +12Volt rail can provide since the +12Volt rail supplies power to the most power hungry components in a system like the processor, graphics processing unit and the hard drives.

Take the Coolermaster Real Power 520w Modular Power Supply for instance which is stated to be an 520 wattage power supply. It can supply up to 34 amps of the +12Volt rail which is reasonable I guess. Now, if you then compare it to the competition such as the Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU which is once again stated as a 520 wattage power supply, it is actually a much better unit since it can provide 40 amps on the +12Volt rail and is also only a couple of pound more. Now, the Coolermaster Real Power 520w Modular Power Supply becomes a much more less appealing power supply. :)

the purepower thermaltake series aren't very good...the toughpower line is the one to get as it's MUCH better...hence the higher price.

The thing is though. I don't really know how to OverClock especially a Graphics Card. I wouldn't like to mess something up. Also note that the card is EVGA and I've heard tons of good things about this mark. :) So you recommend Corsair > Coolermaster? Also what is the difference between Modular and Compliant PSU? Thanks... :D
