So recently I'm getting a little annoyed at the walls closing in all over the web - what's gone from a freely accessible world is forever getting more restricted, why are we as a people attempting to control others more and more?
2 main sites I use are YouTube - which all of a sudden has now got really annoyed apparently with adblocking (such as brave browser) & now has a pop up with a '3 strikes' rule and you're banned - which is insane.
Even on OCUK here, mods have decided if you don't post enough you get banned off for sale section etc which also makes no sense, because a lot of us here (nearly 20 years now) are occasional posters and browse other stuff - most questions you want to ask have already been asked so you just search for it........
So what gives? - sure YouTube wants add revenue, but they get little sympathy from me earning billions, they make enough to run for our life time, so the tiny percentage of users successfully blocking ads is an absurd attack on a very small minority.
OCUK blocking off parts of the forum for occasional posters doesn't make logical sense either - should there not be a rule if you've been here literally decades it doesn't apply? Perhaps we've chatted about all there is to chat about, so post counts gone down !
Either way - which ever way you put it - the internet isn't meant to be authoritarian, the beginning of the end, it will end up with different web sites being like different channels on tv, with only a few hundred sites approved by the powers that be
