I know this is supposed to be some closely guarded secret but as much as I like kfc, I can't help but think I could do it better at home.

There are times when you can almost taste the detergent the chicken is washed in :(

I know this is almost blasphemy to consider kfc as cooking :p

Anyone any ideas?
 
Because like I said in the OP, last time I went I felt as if I could taste what the chicken was washed in.
 
Quantities or just throw random amounts in? :d

What gives it the golden colour?
 
Any way to do it without a deep fat fryer or would you just have to bread them instead.
