Hey Guys,

Bit of a weird one this, so unfortunately I lost my dad around a year and a half ago during COVID, due to a sudden Diagnosis of Cancer (Small Cell) I lost him within 7 months, anyway long story short.

I just threw myself into my business and worked my backside off to create/build something successful which me and him started. Anyway cut to the presence, and I've been sleeping a lot, I've been really down, Irritable and Anxious and all I could put my finger on was I've had a quiet week or two with company due to Holidays/Jubilee etc and its given me almost time to think and to grieve subconsciously my Father.

However, my mum was talking to me (we all live in one big house since losing my dad, her decision (didn't want to be alone etc) and she mentioned I've stopped drinking Coca Cola/Pepsi since I went to Egypt around three weeks ago? Now I've done a bit of research and all the symptoms of a comedown lead me to think its exactly that, as the symptoms are exactly the same as what I'm experiencing right now, problem is I can't kick it. It just doesnt ease up whatsoever, I noticed my skin cleared up big time in the last few weeks also, I have eczema.

'Withdrawal symptoms include irritability, fatigue, headaches, and even feelings of depression ( 21 , 22 ). Usually, these withdrawal symptoms are due to quitting caffeine, and they typically last anywhere from 2–9 days ( 21 ).'

So my question isn't that of a medical one I don't think, has anyone else experience such a thing? and if so have you had the same from Soda etc?

Weird thread I know, im just hoping I can shed some light on it!

Regards, Alex/Neoni

See a doctor tbh, I doubt Cola has had that much effect after 3 weeks unless you were drinking it a lot before. It could be though, it's why I find it hard to quit coffee.

Have you had COVID? and/or possible you've had it asymptomatically or with minor symptoms - some people find they get weeks of fatigue and similar symptoms post COVID - not always immediately. My grandad took over a month to shake it off (though he is mid 90s).

I had COVID in October, Caught it at my Wedding, Realised I had in whilst on our travels in Berlin. Only thing ive had since covid is this putrid smell, stuff smells very different now.

Possible it is some variant of long COVID then - some people have reported similar. One of my colleagues took months to shake off some stuff still tasting/smelling slightly metallic and bouts of fatigue post COVID.

I lost both my parents within 10 days of each other which could be about the same time as you lost your Father last year and for the past couple of months I've been feeling the same and thinking about them both quite a bit. Maybe you could do with some grief counselling?

Was drinking about 1.5-2 litres of Pepsi max a day before January, not touched a fizzy drink since then.

Only thing I suffered was headaches from having (I imagine) less caffeine in my diet, my blood pressure has dropped considerably from bordering on hbp to pretty much bang on where it should be.
