Well I have to admit this is a pretty enjoyable game, pretty much the whole way through the campaign now and I'm liking it. The learning curve is admittadly pretty steep in a way as you have to get the controls adjusted to the way you like it while trying to navigate the first few levels. What I like about the game is a fully charged shot from an alien weapon or a headshot can pretty much one-hit you and that is nice to see.
What is strange is that they kind of make the game slightly easier throughout. On the hardest difficulty the first level can indeed become a pain but then as the campaign progresses you get a suit that makes the shots do less damage, jump higher, etc etc. It doesnt make a massive difference but the all of a sudden regenerative health does.
It certainly does remind me of Perfect Dark and going back to the run and gun past isn't necessarily a bad thing but we expect more from our shooters now, something different. I guess thats where the ASE(All Seeing Eye) comes in for some exploration elements, hidden rooms etc. However mixing in stuff like invisible mines becomes a frustration when dealing with a room of enemies simultaniously.
Unfortunately the Wii's limitations kind of ruin the whole experience, I'm playing it on a 37" HDTV so probably not going to help matters but the Jaggies are insane lol! That being said, the graphical effects on this first implementation of High Voltage's tech engine are unsurpassed on Wii. The partical effects, depth of feild, bump mapping, all look fantastic, you just wish the Wii was High Def when you look at it. Oh and the water is actually a fantastic effect in the engine, really works well, reacts to explosions etc, really good.
Anyways I really really like the controls for it. I basically decreased the size of the bounding box to pretty much nothing and that helps the game control a lot more like a standard FPS on the PC where it becomes pure turning from looking around. The depth of the customizability of the controls is certainly welcome as I found a few settings having to be changed, the thrust sensitivity for example however the option is there so you can have it the way you want it.
I dont think the European servers go live until midnight as me and my mate have both tried, unsuccessfully, to play the game over the net so I'll be looking forward to trying that out later.
The game is pretty much £29.99 everywhere and I would honestly recommend it since I have enjoyed the game.
IGN gave the game an 8.6

I agree with a lot of that review but without playing the multiplayer I cant give my own diffinitive verdict yet.
