So.

We got married on the 15th October, and are not changing the passport details until we return from Honeymoon (Depart 20th Nov, Return 5th Dec).

In the process of applying for a few things like bank accounts, sorting out council tax etc.

Is it ok to start listing my wife as having my surname now, or is there a specific piece of paper/form/something that we need to have prior to doing this?

You may need to include a copy of the marriage certificate as proof but this will depend on the organisation e.g. banks most likely will whereas your local library won't...

You'd think there would be a simple way for newly Married Women to be able to show the World that they had just 'Changed Names through Marriage' and that they were 'Formerly Known As'.

I don't know, like a word they'd use or something, the French are usually good at stuff like this...

The specific piece of paper you are looking for is called the marriage certificate....

I'm assuming this is sarcasm but anyway the Squiggle née Prince? That sort of thing.

But this doesn't say my surname on it next to her name, is it just assumed that this is the way it works (aware some people get excited and go all double barrel etc
