The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

Guys, can someone post a few hints on exactly how to hack the computer terminals in the game?.

I just don't have a clue what to do, where to begin with etc once that mish mash of data/text appears on the terminal screen and I am about to start hacking it!!!!

HALP!!!! ;)

You click on the main words that are being shown , some are the right ones others are not its a case of guessing. Best thing to do is try each word but on the last one incase you get it wrong come out of the hack screen and try again you be able to have more goes again.

But the words do change

some lines have a full set of brackets [] {} ()<> etc they have random crap in them, click those brackets, and it removes dud words.

Then when ever you click a word (ignore all the other junk) it tells you how many letters are correct and in the right place. Then you have to use your nogin to figure it out.

if you make it to the last attempt without getting it, don't try unless you're sure just exit and do it again as it will be reset to something else/full attempts.

if you do the bracket thing, then usually you're left with a few relatively similar words and it can be solved in 2-3 tried.

ts a case of guessing.

only on the first word the rest is a puzzle, that's easy to solve.

The way i do it is to look at the last part of the possible password. For example, if the word you select ends in 'ing', and you get less then 3 correct letters, then you can ignore all words that end with 'ing'. That is after removing as many as possible dud words of course.

nope none here, best browser by a long way if you give it a chance and use it for a while. I have been an opera user for 5 years now.

Well the last time i used it, half the web pages didn't load in the proper format. That was about 6 months ago.

Anyone with the sniper rifle...gotten from the geezer in Minefield. Does the zoom work properly on it, or does it look odd? With mine, when zoomed, some of the left and right parts of the screen disappear. I think it was OK first time around, unless my memory is playing tricks, and it's alwasy been borked!

When you pick a word and it's wrong, it'll say '3/5' correct - that means 3 of the letters in the word you picked which consisted of 5 letters is also in the correct password. So if you picked 'Street' and it's wrong but it says '2/5' correct, at least two of the letters in 'street' is in the correct password, so assuming S and T is in the correct password you try the others with those letters in, such as 'Stork'.

Got a question myself: what exactly does radiation do to you? I got 600+ at one point for a mission but didn't notice any effects it had on me.

I think the hard part is that it could also mean the e's. Such as in "Street" if it was 2/5 it might be both the e's which is where I got confused. I hated the hacking system, always found it too hard and ended up having to turn the machine off and turn it back on to get my attempts reset.

Hi guys, just after a bit of advice.

Im loving the game so far but i think ive made a boo boo. At what level should i be venturing to GNR to speak to three dog. I went there last night by mistake and found fighting that amount on supers quite hard. I was level 3.

Thanks.

I didn't do that bit until I was lvl 10+

Do NOT rush the main quest, it only has around 10 hours of gameplay. Spend your time in each "section" picking up side quests, it really pays off and is where lots of the Fallout humour comes into play.

Anyone done the Replicated Man quest? I told him and he gave me his AR-21 Plasma Rifle which is so awesome. 40 odd damage and melts people into glowing green goo in a couple of shots.

Mutates you. One guy earlier had big head and hands :D If its the explorer quest from moira you're talking about, I had that too and went upto 600. I now have mutated limbs that regenerate when crippled.

I did that but a random women met me in the middle of no where. She gave me a part to give to zimmer to pretend I'd killed him. Can you tell me where to find the replicated man? Want to see if he will say anything nice or give me something nice.

I did the field survival guide and also gained the same mutation by drinking the water that the atom bomb was sitting in.

You need to go into the broken bow section of the Rivet City ship and speak to Pinkerton. He'll tell you who the Replicated Man is and how to speak to him. He gives you the AR-21 Plasma Rifle which is my best gun.

OK, updated image, someone must be able to tell me if their sniper is like this or not!

Zoomed...

Thanks for the reply, yeh, thought it was borked. I even reinstalled, but obviously the fault is embedded in the save. :(
