Hi there

AGP is dead, all NVIDIA and ATI are doing is clearing out old stocks, its a good way of them doing so. :)

NVIDIA

6800 STD - These have now dried up, only a few left dotting about.
6800 GT - Again all dried up now, but OcUK have a few Leadtek models left.
6800 GS - Already drying up and great value, grab one whilst you can. (BFG, OCUK/POV and XFX still available from OcUK, be quick!!)
7800 GS - Due early February and will be approx £230 - £250 Inc. VAT. (BFG & XFX available on launch)

ATI

X800 GTO - Should start to see more availability soon. :) (PowerColor in stock at OcUK)
X800 XL - Drying up now, OcUK has some HIS and Sapphire left but will run out soon.
X850 XT - Again nearly all gone now, OcUK has some X850 XT's still and lots more on the way. :)
X850 XT PE - All gone now, no more ever again. :(

So come February NVIDIA will have the best performing AGP part available with 7800 GS and those thinking that prices will drop, well think again, AGP cards are not been massed produced and availability grows poorer by the day so prices will hold steady or increase unless some amazing deals come along.

Hi there

Well OcUK is getting more and more exclusive day by day with BFG as you will find were the only company in Europe selling 6800 GS and it should be similar situation with 7800 GS as well. :)
OcUK has ample 6800 GS left as we have bought all remaining stock from XFX, BFG and POV plus we shall get upto 2000 units of 7800 GS to sell in February too so plenty to go round. :)

Most Etailors have given up selling AGP cards now but OcUK is still pushing for stock and deals constantly.

Even though there's cards still available on AGP (6800GS & 7800GS) IMO the prices are far too high to be anywhere near worth buying.

£190 for a 6800GS...you can get a 7800GT on PCI-E for the same price
£230-£250 for a 7800GS? Having a laugh aren't they? You can get a 7800GT and PCI-E mobo for that!

I'm not blaming OcUK here specifically as I'm sure either the other e-tailers won't have any stock or be more expensive, but if anyone's upgrading from a 6 series card above the 6600GT there's really no choice but to go PCI-E :(

6800 GS are down to £170 now so getting better. :)
7800 GS will start life at £220 - £250 and who knows it might get to around £200 ish mark, just depends on how easily available product is......

Gibbo, any date for the new 7800GS yet? I heard February 2nd, can you confirm or deny this?

Also, can the 7800GS go 16pipe ---> 20pipe? Or would we have to wait for launch before anybody will be able to tell?

Thanks in advance.

Date is yet to be announced but you aint far off. :)

Will be a cracking performance boost from the 9800pro, i went from a 9800pro to an x800pro before, and was blown away by the performance boost, as said the 7800 GS is inbetween the 6800 GS, and the 7800 GT. :)

7800 GS is quicker than 6800 Ultra and cheaper. :D
Only just over one more week to wait until you can buy 7800 GS on AGP. :)

Hmmm, these 7800GS sound just the ticket for the interim but are they worthwhile going for 6600gt owners?

I'm likely to stick with my current box ,for at the very least, till Q3 this year. Would the extra puff from the 7800GS really show?! I only ever play games at either 1024x768 or 1280x1024.

Even at these low resolutions is my processor likely to scupper any improvements the card may of made?

Cheers, Paul.

A 6800 GS would give improvement over what you have so a 7800 GS which has twice the amount of pipelines over the 6600 GT and double the bandwidth memory interface will be a lot quicker. ;)

What makes will there be at launch? I'm hoping for a BFG 7800GS OC version.

I think i'll make the jump, the X800 I have is broken, needs to be RMA'ed as soon as I can find the reciept, then i'll sell the replacement, and get one of these.

Many will think i'm stupid for going X800->7800GS, but i'm not going to do an overhaul until AM2 is well established, it would be silly to jump in two-footed at release, gonna wait to see what chips/boards OC the best :)

I'm also hoping these babys will unlock to 20-pipe, and OC to something silly ;)

Hi there

BFG is already at OcUK, so if you ring the sales team they will take an order off you for one and it will ship out on launch day. :)

We are also expecting XFX versions too, we might take other makes unless BFG and XFX can supply us with enough as BFG and XFX are the best NVIDIA brands on the market. :)

May not be top dog in the line up but it is AGP !!
http://theinquirer.net/?article=29246

Sapphire ships Radeon X1600PRO AGP

These are nothing special, don't be fooled by marketing as there actual real world performance is slower than an ATI Radeon X800 GTO and probably similar to 6600 GT performance, maybe a tad slower but unsure.....

P.S. We will be selling these though, just don't recommend you buy one! ;)

Hah, good joke

Sorry with all due respect I don't think I've ever been able to get hold of anyone at ocuk on phones. That sort of stuff really winds me up, good companies have decent phone systems. Just as well the web-notes system is good.

Might take a look at the 7800 if the prices are right. Still disapointed there's no real top end agp, would it be that hard?

Not a joke at all you !!!

New phone system is installed and people are getting through quite easily. :)

As indeed I did at lunchtime, to enquire about these cards. Quick question that I forgot to ask when I was on the phone. I've seen mentioned of 2 versions of the card, one being quicker than the other, is this true and if so what version is the BFG card you have???

Valve

Hi there

We have only the quicker ones.....

Hi there

Both the 6800 GS and 7800 GS support dual monitors. :)

7800 GS will be on the site tomorrow, or call now to put your name down for one. :)

The 7800GS AGP will be £240ish.

An Asus Socket 478 board with x16 PCI express is £60.
A 7800GT pci-express card is £200

So the price difference comes down to £20 more for the AGP. Looks like Nvidea have been fairly savvy with the pricing. Keep in mind the 7800GT is about 10% faster.

This will be a tough call for me. Do I lumber myself with an AGP card which will lose a lot of resell value in a year or go with a PCI-express card which should hold it's resell value.

What are you guys going to do?

Chances are AGP will hold its value better. PCI-E cards de-value very quick due to ATI and NVIDIA releasing new cards all the time.

7800 GS is a cracking card and reasonably well priced. :)

Sorry if this has been stated before (A quick sweep of the thread later)..

Is the 7800gs agp definately a single slot card? Shuttle sn45 friendly?

Actually, Hmm, would the PSU handle this card? (My current xfx6600gt works fine on the silentx-250 but this...)

(if so, bye bye 6600gt)

Cheers, Paul.

It is single slot. :)
