The Days Before COD Was Naff

Best FPS I've ever played, knocked up something like 2000 hours on that damn game.

Foy was just epic.

This takes me back! I loved Foy. Foy with no tanks was awesome. FEAR MY KAR98K SKILLZ.

I must have clocked up thousands of hours on this.

No perks, no akimbo, no overly-scripted storylines, no noob tubes, no last stand, no martydom, no killstreaks (although arty was kinda over powered).

Ahhh but to get Arty you needed 40 kills. Not 7 or whatever it was in CoD4.

And then you needed to get the binocs out, a lot of the time you were open to being sniped.

Such a superb game. Base Assault, epic.

COD:UO was my favourite, frikkin' loved that game! Put many many hours into it. The clan I was in/joint ran were top of Clanbase ladders in Europe for Domination and TDM for a while back in the day :)

cod 1 uo is the best and if they could just update the graphics to very good but keep gameplay same it would still be massive.

best hitboxes and proper aiming with out the bs

when i was at mugs we had number one tdm server in world for it:cool:

so many good players who went on and played everyday a lot play for big teams now or gone over to wow :p

It was all about CoD:UO!!!

That was the first PC FPS I ever got interested in. It was based on history instead of future crap and had fantastic gameplay.

I miss Rifles (the non-sniper kind) so much. Ahh, long live the Kar98! :D

I never got into UO. I felt that the maps were too large and vehicles made the game rubbish. However, can't beat a bit of vanilla COD. Still have it installed infact.

I remember the map Harbor being overplayed. Railyard, Dawnville, Tigertown, Neuville, Stalingrad and Carentan were all quality maps. I didn't dislike Bocage, Hurtgen, Rocket (was that its name?) or Brecourt, but because they were larger I preferred the smaller ones. Then you had Chateau and Ship - though I didn't play them much though because you couldn't on Search and Destroy.

Anyone think of any other vanilla COD maps (not those implemented in UO)?

Always preferred the Mosin to the Kar98k and the Enfield can just fo.

Bah, brings back too many good memories :(

Havn't played uo in a while but im pretty sure artillery was just a callin that had a long cool down period. Don't even recall needing to get kills to use it.

Aye, 10 kills gave you a smoke grenade. Every 10 kills after that gave you an extra grenade and when you reached 40 you got Arty. You had to wait 2 minutes from the initial 40th kill to get it.

Three other vanilla COD maps I just remembered were POW Camp, Depot and Pavlov. Also amazing maps! Pavlov was a bit one sided though in Search and Destroy. And in Team Deathmatch, whoever controlled Pavlov won.

UO also introduced "sprint", which sucked.

Pavlov was intense, took some tactics to try and storm the main building.

POW Camp was such a 3dimensional map as well. The roofs were fun.
