It's all about the gamplay though...

I hate it when people say that.

If games were all about graphics then I wouldn't still be playing and loving Deus Ex so many years after it came out, despite it looking awful by today's standards. For sheer playability and gameplay it blows most modern games out of the water.

I don't like the word "gameplay". It seems to simply refer to how much you can do, or how you do things. Why not use a different word: "fun"? :p

Deus Ex is an example of a fun game. You're never bored. Ever.

I found the game in my loft the other day, i have an Amiga 500 and 1200 so i might boot it up sometime soon and take a few more screen shots.
Give me LOMAC or IL2 anyday though.

Ahhhh back in the day when resoloution meant the answer to a question.....

Over the weekend I picked up a copy of XCOM:UFO Defence, from an abandonware site after playing that and then going on to play COD 2 you really appreciate just how far graphics have come!!!

I got hold of a copy of DOSBox the other day and sparked up the origional X-Wing which in my mind is one of the best PC games of all time and possibly the best Star Wars game made, but sadly I have to say I couldn't really get past the chunky low res graphics. Don't get me wrong it was fun but just just not as fun as i remember because the poor graphics destroyed the illusion I knew I was playing a game rather than saving the galaxy! Now if someone remade it with a decent engine that would be different (Go On Lucasarts Please!)
