The difference between a sealant and wax?

Absolutely. Don't get me wrong, I've got a big bag of (ugh) *detailing* type stuff, I like a shiny car as much as the next bloke, but these companies would like nothing more than for a 32-step, 32-product, 8 bucket wash to become popular :D

Can someone answer me this:

On PB, the instructions for using the Blackfire Midnight Sun Wax and Spray Sealant suggests you apply the wax first but everywhere else I've read that if you're going to use both you should use the sealant first.

What are they playing at?

PAC changed the Blackfire formula a couple of years ago. It's boring stuff but in a nutshell, a new polymer in the AFPP which in turn allows the wax to bond...the wax has the same polymer. The Gloss Spray, again, has the same polymer which allows bonding to the carnauba. The reason it seems unusual is because it is a bit unique and poor naming for the stages. The AFPP is the sealant, that goes on first, then the wax, then the Gloss Spray.

Bang-on. Just re-read the product description and it's a quick detailer, not a traditional sealant.

It is a sealant, but diluted. Just like Werkstat Glos is a diluted Jet, it still seals and adds protection but it's more of a top-up.

Well, anything really abrasive is a compound. Many polishes do not have an abrasive action - SRP for example, and even my Z2 (which most consider a sealant) is named as a polish.

I see the act of polishing as buffing a finish to a shine, and not using abrasives to remove some of the paint.
