i downloaded and installed the beta earlier and not long been playing it, very impressed so far despite my computer not meeting minimum requirements ha.

despite that fact i can play on ultra with the pre-sets that come with it with to me playable frames between 10-20(better than playing crysis on weaker computers) and can play the high settings 18-22 and the standard low settings gets me 28-50 odd with still great graphics i think so low-medium will be very nice :). maybe custom the settings will be a good option

however when the full game is released things will likely change as did with star wars which wasnt much really and im wondering if all the cards suggested to me in my other threads will improve anything?

would help to get a budget, minimum for decent gaming you have 380/960 for about £150
390/970 for £250 for very comfortable gaming

oh yeah best put that in.

used £100 max based on if i could get around £60 for my 750 which is my prime objective, but if i was to buy new the only card im interested in is the 2gb 950 itx simply because i cant afford a 960 and beyond and being itx it will fit in a whole range of cases as i want to downsize at some point so would be ideal but not a big thing.

270/270x/7950 were all cards suggested for within £100, i just want to know if these will have what it takes or what else i should look at, mean i will always be limited by my 4th gen i3, but thats not upgrading any time soon.

thanks for replies.

someone in my other threads did mention the 280x, however all the ones ive seen are over £100 and if i start venturing to the price of the itx 950 then id rather get that, but i cant venture that far which sadly counts out the 970 as much as i would like one, i cant afford the used nevermind brand new.

i still really want a 270 for some reason, but feel i could do better for not much more money, 7950 seem to hover around the £100, they all just seem old to the new maxwell lol

Lol 950 is newer plus the 950 I said was the itx version as at some point I won't want a tower, it was the cheapest decent brand new card..

Annoyingly on gumtree right now there's a gigabyte 7970 for £90 box and everything, but it's in Wales :|

a 7970 is a 280x

I have had a 280x windforce in a micro atx case with no problems.

What sort of micro Atx you talking about though? I have Atx that's a waste for my system and rather have a cube or htpc type and the itx card was more about airflow than fittings.

Lol what's the difference between the cards then as the 280x seems to be selling for higher than the 7970 and I was lucky to see the 79 as I'm usually seeming the 7950 for around the £100 mark.

The 280X is a rebrand of the 7970. The are both Tahiti core with 3GB. The 280X will have a higher default clock speed of 1GHz while the 7970 came out at 925MHz with some OC versions at 1GHZ. The 280X also has slightly higher clocked memory. However both can be overclocked to around 1200MHz quite easily.

Here's a review of the 280X with a handy table comparing various card specs.

I'd go for a 7970/280X if you can get it for around £100. A decent chunk faster than the 960 even if it is older. Also AMD cards are GCN architecture and DX12 compatible meaning the drivers keep being optimized even for the old gen cards.

I still have my old 7950 which can clock to 1300MHz. Great card that can still handle the newer games. It actually gets about 50-60 fps on Fallout 4 with only godrays and shadows turned down to low/medium.

I have seen ppl just bigger cards in small cases, its just about picking the right case
I used a this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/bitfenix-phenom-matx-cube-case-midnight-black-ca-147-bx.html

Thanks for replies.

Yeah I know it's mainly picking the right case, but for me I like the silverstone sugo cases and want one of those, but anyways that doesn't matter, just the itx version was cheapest 950.

I hate people lol newly listed on gumtree there is a 7950 triple fan Model for £45 in full working order, the guy has 2 I think, very unlikely the pair for £45 lol though the only thing I would question is the fact they have been crossfired.

Id be careful a lot of 7950 and 7970 were used in the bit coining craze so they will have been hammerd for days 24/7
I was Allways weary of these cards going for cheap.
A 950 will struggle with the division I think.

Ha yeah I didn't think of the mining, mean that one I mentioned for 90 is now 100 lol but at 45 it's almost tempted to try that particular one out.

I have been trying to find a 270 and finally found one on gumtree at £60.

I know division is only a beta right now, but I don't know what the full game will bring and if a 950 is better than a 750 and I can play the game quite well with adjustments then in theory the 950 should improve, but I'm only either considering the 950 as I had my eyes set on the 370, but reviews put me off.

Whatever I get, games will only play so well with my i3 anyways

I've sold my 750 now, mean someone paid for it on the bay but only moments ago so still got it, but I was only able to get £50 for it and really there is only 2 cards that still catch my eye which are the 270 and 7950, now both I think are still for sale the 270 being msi and £60 while the 7950 is a gigabyte and £45 which I know was questioned for mining, the seller didn't mention, but did say he undervalued it lol, so should I take a gamble on it or play it safe with the 270? Which is also lower powered.

I can't see anything else coming up other than the ti 750 that's any good, any 280's and similar all seem to be faulty lol
