The Dominator - 140mm pipe cooler

That monster will definately not fit in my rig. My SI-120 is a struggle as the power socket is right next to the cpu socket.

Excellent cfm though for not a lot of noise.

It only has 3 sides of the fan shrouded, the side where the heatpipes go into the radiator is open, that can't be good for airflow

Youve lost me
I think you mean the edges covered up but could you please elaborate :)

In the review the fan is attached to the heatsink by a black shroud, that should be airtight really, but on one side there's a sizeable gap between it and the heatsink:

You can see on the side facing the camera that there's no shroud between the fan and heatsink.

Oh I see, Thanks,
Nothing a bit of duct tape cant fix though

Not but really I wonder why they done that, myabe to have less air going through the fins, may of made more noise

Less air going through the fins kind of ruins the point of having a powerful, large fan, they could have just used a slower one if they wanted less noise.

But yeah, duct tape should sort it nicely :)

for goodness sake these heatsinks are just getting ridiculous, if you're really that desperate to get high end cooling get water!

I bet that is a monumental pain in the ass to fit too, and can it be that much better than a freezer pro? Couple of degrees maybe to have a decent crack at bending your motherboard?

At that height off of the motherboard with that much weight behind it, I wouldn't trust it not to rip itself out of it's bracket in transport. The first speed bump would surely ruin your motherboard.

I've got that fan on the rad on my water cooling loop... it's huge but the airflow's good and you can't hear it at all even at full speed! :D
