Somewhere, in a field in cheshire... alright!
Hello all,

I've re installed Windows XP recently and since then have not been able to view pictures on two home shopping sites (both of which are part of the same group so have similar websites). I've tried every possible solution I can find (mainly the ones on the microsoft site) and it still hasnt solved the problem. I'm thinking it might be down to one of the several anti virus/spyware programs I use but dont know what to look for in the settings.

I have ESET NOD32 Anti Virus, Webroot Spysweeper, Spybot S&D, Ad Aware 2007(free) and use Windows Firewall. I'm using Internet Explorer 7.

Anyone have any ideas or encountered the same problem? I'd appreciate any help. I have done fresh installs before with all the same programs and not had this problem.

Thanks a lot

Iggy

Yes I have java 6 update 6 and flash player

Ive clicked properties on the red x and it says type: not available but does say the dimensions

I tried Firefox and it does the same thing. I have had two people try the sites on their systems and they can see pictures so I guess it isnt the site.

the page maybe asking you to install an active x component so try and lower the av and explorers security settings.

it could also just be a problem with the web site.

i assume you cant post a link to it

Im not sure if would be considered a competitor as it does sell consoles and the like. Ive lowered settings in IE but made no difference. Not sure how to lower AV settings, its at default atm.

Are they set to ask permission etc. I doubt its the cookies but worth checking. What OS are you using? And you've tried the site with more than one browser yes?

You haven't disabled images have you?

In Internet Explorer's Tools menu, click Internet Options, then click the Advanced tab. Make sure the Show Pictures check box is selected under Multimedia, and click OK.

Edit: MS KB

Ive tried with Firefox also. Ive checked the show pictures box is checked and also gone through the list of MS solutions. Should cookies be set to ask permission Marc? If so how do I do that? Also I'm on XP.

OK go into IE then Tools>Options etc. Then go to the Privacy tab. Click Advanced. Set first-party and third-party to prompt. That way IE will ask you whenever any site wants to set a cookie. I doubt this is the cause but you could clear any cookies for the site and try again.
