Other hand dryers blow out warm air and rely on evaporation to remove moisture. So hands take too long to dry or, very often, don’t end up dry at all.

Dyson Airblade™ forces unheated air through a 0.3mm gap along its entire 230mm width at over 400 miles per hour, to create a high velocity sheet of air that wipes hands dry in just 10 seconds.

has anybody else used one of these yet? We've got some at work now, and they really are amazing and yes they really do dry your hands that quickly. They are something like 80% more energy efficiant because they use cold air and thus dont have any heating element. They are gonna make dyson a lot of money @ ~£550+VAT, but for the people buying them they'll make that money back on energy saved alone.

crazy stuff but you have to wonder why people hadn't thought of this before lol. might seem a little strange getting excited over a hand dryer, but they are so cool!

wow
looks cool, I can't see how dyson will make much at £550 a pop (how much do normal hand dryers cost?

oooh...that looks pretty funky.

Wonder how long before the kids in the schools start hanging off them and snapping them in two!

I'd love to try one of those. There's nothing I hate more than one of those pathetic hand dryers that feel like someone is farting on your hand. They are blody useless. The best hand dryer I have used was in a bar in Letterkenny. I struggled to keep my hands underneath it, the jet of air was very powerful. My hands were perfectly dry in no time.

Mentally quick cold air > a fart of warm air.

I always thought that having high preassure air against your skin like that had potential health implecations

Obviously not though as otherwise it wouldn't have been released. One thing though, where does the water go? Does it just drop into the machine then dribble out onto the floor?

EDIT- another thought. You kow how you get those stupid taps that fire out water like a preassure washer leaving a spray on your strides that looks worryingly like splash back. How is this meant to deal with tha Mr Dyson? :p

But if you have shakey hands and touch the edge you will get someone elses germs on your hands :(

LOL. same applies when you turn off the tap or push the button on a convential drier... or open the door to leave the crapper. Germs are everywhere!!

I 've seen similar things in Japan for a while now!!
Ditto in Korea - must have been well over 3 years since I started seeing them in a lot of places. I wonder what Dyson has done that's different from those older versions, if at all?

Bah, just wipe yourself on the jeans of a passer by.

that's tantamount to assault. And in George Michael's case, sexual assault especially if they haven't finished zipping up *shudder*. :D

only thing old style driers are good for is when you are out and see u got a sweety armpit and need to quicky dry it :D The Dyson you just would get stuck there like a bulldog clip!
