The E55 went last weekend and picked up the XF on Friday. So far very happy with the car and its exceeded my expectations. Its Portfolio spec which is the top spec with most things as standard, B&W soundsystem with 6CD, DAB,USB and ipod input, bi-xenons (bizarrely in my mind not standard on luxury or premium luxury), heated and ventilated 18 way electric seats.
Options on top of Portfolio spec are;
- heated steering wheel ( not too bothered about this)
- front parking sensors with rear camera ( quite surreal staring at the dash screen when reversing!)
- Adaptive cruise control (quite strange approaching a car with cruise on and the car slowing down and maintaining a gap until they move over and it speeds back up again!)
The exterior is Indigo blue which has shown today in the sunshine that it got some really nice hues to it. The interior combination I think is Ivory seats with Barley dash top and contrast stitching with rich oak wood trim. I wasn't entirely sure about it from the pictures I saw, but in the flesh I think it works great.
Managed just over 24mpg on the run back from Portsmouth, which I am happy with as I reckon the E55 would have managed 20mpg ish over the same journey. Another unexpected bonus is that it transpires that the car is for some reason registered as PLG class and therefore only £215 for the year rather than the expected £460! I can only assume that its because this car wasn't supposed to exist on a 58 plate, as the 5.0 was only released on 09 plate cars to my knowledge, so maybe there was no existing model to get the emissions data etc. from.
The ride is nice and the handling is markedly improved from the E55, there is fluidity and feedback which was missing from the E55.
The engine isn't quite a pokey, but then what is! Its got a good amount of power and is very smooth and quiet, until you put your foot down and there is a reminder that there is a V8 under the bonnet.
The touch screen setup has grown on me. Wasn't a major fan on test drives but now that I have got used to it, its quick and easy to use. The B&W stereo is pretty awesome, clear sound with plenty of volume if needed.
I was originally looking at the Diesel S model but saw that the V8's can be picked up a fair bit cheaper for same age/mileage/spec and in my heart I didn't really want a diesel, it was just the sensible option. I am glad that I got the V8 as it's a cracking car for the money and a lovely engine to boot.
Only planned change will be to get some Volan wheels on the car, but will wait until I wear the existing tyres down and try and pick up a second hand set with tyres on them.

		 Took me a while to get used to the reversing camera which was a shame as it would have saved me from curbing my wheels
