The end for my PC gaming?

Since I was first introduced to my first PC - I loved the gaming.

I have several accounts to many games that I've played;

Ultima Online, CS/HL/TFC/TF2, Quake, UT, BF Series, CoD Series, Planetside, Warhammer, WoW, DCUO, Guildwars, Aion, Anachy Online, Tabula Rasa, APB, OFP - and many more I can't think off hand.

Many of these were great games at their times and some still are.

I'm now struggling to even stick to any games without being bored in the first 5 minutes of playing them (single player bores me to death) and what now feels like the end of my "gaming career".

I really hope the likes of Planetside 2 or Guildwars 2 brings back the life of gaming to the PC for me, or I think I may just give it up all together.

Anyone else feel the same?

i used to be able to play CS WOW e.t.c. every waking hour. Since i quit wow 2 years ago i just can't play games like that any more. I've put 40 hours+ into both MW3 and BF3 and am experiencing FPS fatigue so im playing some single player. Maybe try something you have never played before, maybe a moba.

I think its a part of growing up.

And yes to all of you oldies still playing..............grow up ffs xD

It is.............

............no I won't!:p

Seriously, what happens to me is I can't be bothered and nothing catches my attention, seen it all before, boring etc.

Then 4-6 weeks later I get back into playing for a while!

Repeat!

i was a FPS addicted but i get so bored playing shooters now, infact most of my time i game is on indie games frozen synapse and dungeons of dredmor currently. Have bought some old classics like jaggad alliance 2 and HOMM3 games I never looked at when they were released and I am having fun with them.

you one need a nice break and two go for something different

my saviour game was thehunter. totally unlike my usual stuff i played cods and so on and i really enjoy it.

a lot of gaming is about who you game with aswell

if i didnt game with the people i game with i wouldnt play as they are the main reason its fun

Felt like this a lot recently, and have had sometimes very long periods of it since college 6 or 7 years ago. I've played a bit of Battlefield 3, and had a go of the Star Wars beta, but other than that I've hardly touched anything in months.

I tend to enjoy my music more, but I have a friend who loves his games, and rarely listens to music. Different strokes for different folks, I guess...

I can't see myself upgrading my PC for a long time to come. Might even be the last time. Gaming just doesn't grab me quite as much as it used to.

I'm the same. Been thouroughly enjoying my second playthrough of Fallout New Vegas though. Aswell as Dead Space 2 and Borderlands with the wench.

I think I've been let down so many times with FPS games and their ability to provide a substantial competitor to what CS 1.6 brought to the table and some games got close.. then ruined it with no dedicated servers.. or stupid non-settable settings meaning you couldnt amend the amount of rounds per game. Silly things that ended up being game breaking.

The funny thing is, GO will be either a huge flop or a huge success, it wont settle in the middle.. I really hope its a success, it'd be nice to get into a team again in a game I like.

Planetside is what got me into PC gaming and, for me, nothing has come close to that experience. It does not stop me from sitting at my PC every night and trying to have some fun playing games as i can't think of anything better to do (my GF watches all kinds of crap on the tv and i aint doin that).

For me the issue is the amount of leveling up required in the likes of BF3 etc. If you have a job and a family it's impossible to commit the time to get enough unlocks. Flew a jet today ... within 30 seconds I have IR lock on me and get shot down. No flares etc to respond with as I have to die several hundred times to build up the right to defend myself. It's pyramid selling.......

Quake was a classic as it was based on skill .... not dedication to unlocking items.

But then, that's how they create the demand ... you have to be in on the day 1 release and then invest lots of time to keep up. These are no longer games the casual gamer can enjoy.

Personally I loved L4d ... competitive play with a small number of team mates.

Personally I think if you have had to resort to pinning your hopes on future games to revive your interest in PC gaming, in spite of the phenomenal array of fantastic titles already available, then the writing is already on the wall. Even if you enjoy those games for a while, how long will it be before you lose interest again?

That's a good point. And part of the reason why I really can't be bothered playing online anymore. If you've only got an hour or so per night, if that then it's not really much fun dying every minute or so just because somebody that has more spare time on their hands has unlocked vastly better equiptment/ perks etc.

Tell you what, I am now playing Risen. Great RPG in fact I stopped playing Rage/BF3/Skyrim to test this older game out and I love it. Give it a try, I was hooked after the first hour. 15 hours later and still loving it.

In the same boat tbh

I have a small window of opportunity when kids go to be (which seems to be getting later & later)

Trouble is, I almost feel guilty if caught playing games at other times as unlike most hobbies, gaming still has a stigma attached to it.

I think if I were a train spotter or twitcher, my family would find it more acceptable:)

I blame Jeremy Kyle personally:D

Its got to the stage now where I draw satisfaction from just owning the game and knowing that at some time in the future, I may get time to play it.

I've had Mass Effect 2 for nearly a year without installing as just don't think i'll have the time to learn all the controls to even begin enjoying the game.

Having said that, just started playing Deus Ex Human Revolution and after nearly giving up in the bit before the opening credits, really starting to find the game quite immersive.

My golden rule with PC games is that I refuse to pay any more than a tenner, by which point the game is generally fully patched and my hardware is capable of playing it;)
