The England Cricket Thread

Serves me right for getting hopes up. Klaasen all but wins the game, before the inevitable choke. 26 run from 24 ball with 6 wickets remaining. 96.62% probability to win and we still blow it. Marco Jansen has no big match temperament - completely missing lengths just like last years semi final against Australia. Gave Kohli a easy start which laid the platform. On other hand SKYs catch was incredible - nail in coffin.

This is an awful Windies performance.
Absolutely dire but they have been in decline in the 5 day game for such a long time now with no prospect of a turn around.

Such a shame to see James Anderson end his career in such a poor match, I still think it's wrong that we are cutting him adrift when he is still arguably the countries best bowler particularly in English cricket.

Anderson had a poor outing in the last Ashes, he's well past it I am afraid.

Look at what Gus has been able to do, it's good to get some more youngsters into the team.

Talking of youngsters, Jamie Smith has been solid.

I think before long we will be saying where's Anderson when we need him, he bowled beautifully this test and I think pushing him out is just a bit cheap. Time will tell still what a career and what a legend, gutted he dropped that caught and bowled at the end would have made the perfect ending to his time, it was almost to easy!

The debutants have looked good hopefully Atkinson can build on his dream start and Smith looked today enough behind the stumps and decent with the bat it would be nice to have an established keeper with no debate over his place after the last couple of years flip flopping with Foakes and Bairstow.

It is silly to make Anderson retire, as he won't be there for the ashes, then select Woakes. Should have let Jimmy have the whole series and have him work with a young new ball partner. Jimmy can adapt far more than Woakes can, and teach more.
