Shocked to find no thread for this !!

Since I'd heard it was ok from a friend and I saw it for 10 quid on PSN, and I needed something to tide me over until Resident Evil 7, I picked it up.

It's FANTASTIC !!!
Essentially it's Resident Evil 4 (which is not a bad thing)

Weirdly though, I would have to comment on this in two parts.

1) Controls and gameplay and combat and weapons and item management is top notch. Massive Massive fun.

2) Gonna put this into spoiler tags even though I'll try to make it not all that spoilery.
I think the story went off the rails pretty quickly. The first hour is amazing, trapped with insane inmates and hiding for your life in a Silent Hill/Hellraiser-esque nightmare. But then it starts to get really abstract and weird with the locations and you just end up fighting generic baddies and tentacle monsters. It stopped feeling like a survival horror and basically started feeling like a "game".

To summarise.
Amazing game, but a missed opportunity to be a really **** scary horror. But you cannot go wrong for 10 pounds :)
 
I am pretty sure I posted one years ago. I loved the game but it started of bloody hard! I bought it, finished it and sold it, then I bought the version with the DLC for £7 brand new from game :D

I liked the character upgrade bit but it did make the game very easy towards the end but still very enjoyable.

The bit later where you get chased by the big monster while you are in the bus was good fun :D
 
Did either of you play the Akumu mode?
Not allowed to get hit even once.

I made it to Chapter 5 (I think) before the bit with
Kidman trapped in the cube filling with water and the room gets filled with bad guys.
Doing that without taking a hit AND looking after Joseph AND he gets killed a lot easier than other difficulties AND you have much less ammo is beyond my ability.

So I actually deleted the game from my HDD to preserve it as a great game in my memory and not a nightmarish ass-fest of impossibility :D
 
LOL Sounds like a challenge. Not for me though, I was getting frustrated enough when I first played it and must have gotten killed 10-20 times on that first tiny bit alone.. :o
 
Recently bought it on pc with the lead up to resi 7. At release I was put off by talk of bad performance etc but that has since been improved somewhat.

I've managed to reach chapter 11 and until recently was really enjoying it but it's starting to over stay it's welcome for me, sure it mixes the locations up etc as you play but other than that it's a bit samey!

Still, glad I've played it I just wonder if I will return to finish it. Probably should
 
It did feel a bit long but overall I quite enjoyed the game. Performance was really bad on PS4 when I played it way back, though.
 
Just bought the season pass as it's cheap on PSN at the minute.
I enjoyed it the first time, can't remember any bad performance though so it may have been patched. I didn't play at release though

Well..... you're like 2/3 of the way more or less :)
 
This is a game i hated when it released, the close camera and wide screen view was really off putting, It then got a full screen update and was £12 on Live so i bought it, quite enjoyed it tbh but stopped playing after the chainsaw boss.

Should really get back to playing it.
 
Did buy it a while back. Got stuck on an underground bit trying to kill a box head thing. Got bored then stopped playing it. Quite enjoyed it upto that point.
 
The I will push through!

What put me off mainly until now was the demo! That first part of the game sucks and doesn't really demonstrate the game well at all! But after that chapter 2 and 3 were much better so I retried the demo and stuck with it and made my purchase!
