This has been annoying me for a long time - do you think it's acceptable or misleading for microsoft or sony to announce something as an exclusive when in many cases it may be

a) only a timed exclusive

or

b) coming out on the pc at the same time

Doesn't this amount to false advertising? I was also surprised that some people seem to think that a game is an exclusive even if it is coming out on the pc at the same time (or before). For me a game can't be exclusive to the 360 say, if it is coming out on the pc too. Am I alone in thinking this?

Basically it seems that the majority of times the word exclusive is used, the game/dlc being talked about is not actually an exclusive! Does anyone else find this annoying?!!!

I don't understand this. It's a game platform which is owned by millions of people. If you can play the same game on the same screen with the same controller why does it not count?

Sadly very few of those millions actually buy the games, compared to the 360/PS3 that have much less users (technically). I am sure some FPS games get good sales but they are minor compared to console versions of the games.

PC games almost always are ran on Windows, another Microsoft product. That alone is one reason to not be fussy about keeping the games on the 360 only.

Yep, I mean, it's not like the PC got millions and millions of sales from digital distribution last year is it?

Oh wait. ;)

In total maybe, per title I bet very few games on PC this year broke the million barrier in terms of sales. WoW of the top of my head I guess always breaks 1 mill a year I cannot think of anything else off the top of my head that is only on PC that people would buy silly amounts of. Pop Cap games sell more than your average PC game that is released. I think that says something about it tbh.

Surely its valid just to advise which Microsoft exclusives are PC/PC & X360 or X360 solely...

Does that mean that Alan Wake is a PC Exclusive since its not on other computer platforms? :p

Just seems a bit silly that console owners get a bit elistist when the PC gets involved - I think a lot of people just want transparency what is meant by 'exclusive' to allow them to make an informed decision regards purchasing the game and on what platform...

ps3ud0

Don't really care, PC games last far longer than console ones and are better supported. (multiplayer, that is)

A minute a go you did care about the sales, make up your mind?

Developers don't really care tbh. :D It makes them less money so it is a platform that gets little attention.

They prefer short lived games where they can sell new games to users every few months.

It ain't exclusive if it's on the PC as well. Simple as.

Most of the multi-platform games are pretty good too.

this aint about whats better or being elitist or whatever and nothing to do with pc vs console.

your average console gamer is not going to care about a pc release because the chances are, their pc isn't a gaming rig and they are going to be purchasing the other console to play the exclusives rather than upgrading/buying a new pc.

only pc gamers benefit this situation though only the obvious cross over genres get released like that anyway, fps and western rpgs with a few exceptions.
