Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis are to return for "substantial roles" in the Expendables follow-up.

Simon West will be directing the actors in the sequel to the action superhero film, according to Deadline.

Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren and Mickey Rourke are also to reprise their roles.

Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris have signed up to The Expendables 2.

The actors will join Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and producer Sylvester Stallone in the follow-up to the action film.

Nicolas Cage and John Travolta are also rumoured to be interested in joining the cast.

Stallone added of Travolta: "It's possible. The one thing I've learned is what is a fact on Monday is a complete fallacy on Tuesday. A lot of it is scheduling.

"It's not financial. It's just that Bulgaria is definitely a jaunt. It's a commitment, you know what I mean? Especially in the dead of winter."

The first grew on me after I watched it for the second time, surely this one is going to be even better with the cast that's now signed up. Still missing Danny Trejo and maybe a Steven Seagal & Robert De Niro in similar roles to which they had in Machete. Need to get a big name female this time around as well

Dunno about women really, from that period I guess they could drag out Brigitte Nielsen, but that would go horribly wrong!

The women would have to be from the newer era, again someone like Michelle Rodriguez. Although Sharon Stone stared in a few Sly/Arnie films back in the day

Arnold Schwarzenegger will reportedly take on a bigger role in The Expendables 2.

The actor is to spend four days filming his sequence for the follow-up to the action film, according to Den of Geek.

Schwarzenegger filmed his part in the first movie in less than a day alongside Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis. It is thought his role in the sequel will still be in a supporting capacity.

The Expendables 2 began filming at the start of the month in Bulgaria, its star Jason Statham recently revealed.

Chuck Norris has joined the rest of the cast for the shoot, with the film due for release in 2012.

Exactly it is supposed to be a stupid mindless violence film, it doesn't try to be anything other and so it works.

If you are looking for a coherent story, a film with multiple layers or a deep message then you are looking in the wrong place.

I'm not sure I agree with that tbh, take a film like Machete and you can plainly see that it's a **** take on the early 90's action films.... Expendables though I think was trying to be a serious action film

Still even if that's the case nothing wrong with a bit of mindless action :)

Didn't realise that Thor was in this as well, trailer looks pretty cool but I bet Willis and Arnie only have cameo's again :(

Chuck Norris has reportedly insisted that The Expendables 2 receive a PG-13 rating.

The original Expendables was rated R, and the sequel was on track to secure the same rating, thanks to the profane language. However, Norris refused to join the film unless it was classified as PG-13.

"In Expendables 2 there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay," Norris told the Polish newspaper Gazeta.

"For this reason, many young people wouldn't be able to watch this," he continued. "But I don't play in movies like this.

"Due to that I said I won't be a part of that if the hardcore language is not erased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13."

**** off Norris

Sylvester Stallone has opened up about the decision to classify The Expendables 2 as PG-13.

The veteran action star told Ain't It Cool News that the sequel "delivers on every level" despite having its script toned down.

"The film is fantastic with Van Damme turning in an inspired performance... Our final battle is one for the ages. The PG-13 rumour is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level," he told the website.

"This movie touches on many emotions which we want to share with the broadest audience possible, BUT, fear not, this Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing will not leave anyone hungry."

Expendables 2 was classified as PG-13 earlier this week at the request of Chuck Norris, who condemned the use of profanity in its screenplay and threatened to exit the project unless it was removed.

I say again **** off Norris :mad::mad:

Was there much swearing in the first film?

To be fair I don't really recall and I would excuse the odd F-bomb being missed out as long as the action sequences were in still in place.

That's going to be the thing that's hit by this the hardest though, there wont be another Terry Crews/AA-12 Shotgun scene in this sequel now :(

Of course the most stupid thing about making this film in particular PG-13 is that there's very few people under the age of 13 who've actually seen the likes of Stallones back catalogue of films. The Expendables is a series made for people who grew up with Stallone & Van Damme etc during the 80's & 90's and we're the ones that this PG-13 age rating is screwing over :o

The Expendables 2 will carry an R rating, according to Sylvester Stallone.

Having previously confirmed rumours that the movie would be rated PG-13, the actor has now announced that it will carry the same higher rating as the first film.

Speaking to The Stallone Zone, Stallone said: "After taking in all the odd rumours and hearsay, EXPENDABLES II is an R."

It had previously been reported that the sequel's vulgarity would be toned down, following the addition of Chuck Norris to the cast.

Joy if true :)
