To cut a long story short, I will be writing what is basically an ‘FAQ’ based on Religion and faith. What I’m aiming for is:

1: God
2: The Big 3 –
2.1 Judaism
2.2 Christianity
2.3 Islam
3: Other faiths
(1) might/could also include atheism

(working titles)

Put simply, I would be grateful if people could throw some questions at me that they’re genuinely interested in finding out the answers to. They could be simple e.g. how do religions prove God exists? or a bit more ‘complex’ e.g. What do Jewish scriptures prophesise about the Messiah?

Please ask sensible questions, not something like “If Muslim men can have 4 wives, can they ‘do’ them at the same time????”

I don’t want to put my own questions and views down and am looking to aim for a wide audience, hence me asking here so I really would appreciate a proper response.

Obviously it will take time, and help would be appreciated. Also note that it may be that not all questions are addressed, especially if they come from people I don’t like ;)

If answering, please use a header/title then the question below i.e.

Christianity:

Did Jesus rise from the dead?

Paganism:

What is the core belief?

Again, thanks for any contributions. :)

(Mods, standby to lock/delete lol)

I think this is a very important and sensible question and needs further in depth analysis. It might point towards an answer as to why muslims are so frustrated with the western world... ;)

If you want it, I'll put it in there for you :p

All religions who believe in an afterlife:

What could 'heaven' (not to be confused with 'Haven' Holiday Camp or 'Devon' on the South West Coast) or your own variation have to offer that Earth doesn't that people wouldn't get bored off or that would make things better?

For example, I heard a Muslim girl talk about Earth as a 'stop-gap'.

Would she get more attention in the afterlife?
Would she have a better place to live than her house in Stoke?
Would she never, never, ever get bored with things?
Would I really want to be stuck in Christianity 'heaven' with people singing church songs all day?

I was joking... you do realise that dont you?

Having said that, I still think you should leave it in :D

I know, but it may be really important for some people, especially young Muslim men...

I don't really wish to dissuade you but it does strike me as a bit of a pointless exercise given that few people ever read FAQs/stickies. If it isn't for here then you may have slightly more success (i.e. it is for a religious based forum) but even then I have my doubts.

You also have to take into account that what people get from religion varies so what is 'truth' for one branch of religion doesn't necessarily hold true for other branches of the same religion. Additionally you might want to include a bit on agnosticism/atheism along with creationism and FSMism. :)

Include Buddhism as the 4th largest religion, you might also want to cover ideas like Graham Hancock and Carl Jung had on religion and the 'monomyth' idea that most heros/prophets etc... are a retelling of parts of our psyche - doing an essay on that very topic at the moment...

Heres one:

If we are God's creation, why does he watch us suffer, go through pain, and war with eachother?

War is easy, its because He gave humans free will, for better or for worse. Its up to us to avoid war, something we completely fail at.

Ah, I know I can always count on you... :)

Actually, while I will post it here it's not just for here. I know others will give me feedback, questions and help, but as I said it's good to get a wide range of questions from people with different understandings/backgrounds.

I was hoping to include something on Atheism and agnostism as well, but thanks for reminding me - I'll edit my op.

That could be an alternative belief/origins topic. Will edit my op later.

Hold on, a religion FAQ for this forum?

Pointless if you ask me, the sort of people that want to ask questions would do their own research... otherwise they're merely here to express a chip on their shoudler

What, count on me to throw cold water on the plans? :D

Once you are finished or have a bit that you need read over I'd be happy to have a quick look to see if there is anything that I can help with but I can't guarantee much with my limited knowledge of religion. I don't really have any particular questions to ask either because I'm not that curious beyond the knowledge I have now and if I was ever that curious again I tend to just look it up for myself. :)

We live in a free will universe, if a heigher being were to step in and stop us, they would be violating our free will afaik... Not that I beleive in god, nor that I dont, im undecided I just read a lot
