I hate the world atm, 1939 or whatever was better as countries just got on with it, sent an army in and bosh - we are off.

Nowadays its all talk this, faggot that, im a poof this - either give them the island, or invade Argentina. 2 options, nothing else. Get it done so I have somethign fun to watch on the news.

What suggests they are falling over themself if the circumstances were there?
The Falkland Islands Association and the FIG.
Fund aircraft carriers and fleets of new fast jets?
They will not fund anything directly. Only make a significant contribution to help shoulder the burden of maintaining the deterrent, aka the British Navy and Air force. We would have course maintain this for their benefit anyway but contributions will offered and accepted as they have been for some time.

If you wanted to make a point to an American you should have just said it would be like giving Mexico back California.
For any western country to start suggesting with any sincerity that we should give the Falklands to Argentina would be opening a can of worms for themselves and others. Which is why it will never happen and we should just ignore Argentina.

IIRC Jamaica 'bought' a squadron of Spitfires for the RAF during WW2, for example...

With our Home defense Guard (sunday Express 12/02/20112)I'm a sure we could send Cpt Mannering on Cpl whatever his name is boat to defend the islands, along with our aircraft carriers that our not built yet (without here airplanes)while continuing our deployment in other areas of the world also while planning the next war in the middle east.

Sorry forgot our nuclear sub thats down there
, thought they didn't carry nukes on them any more and if they they did would really deploy them ?

it's a nuclear attack sub.

ie it's powered by a nuclear reactor but is armed with conventional weapons and is made for naval combat and cruise missile attacks on land.

the last nuclear sub we sent down their sank their flagship. (the only nuclear submarine to ever destroy a target in anger)

you're thinking of the nuclear missile subs, and yes our nuclear missile subs carry nukes and we always have at least one of the 4 deployed (plus one in repairs, one in training and one standby iirc.) and fully armed with nuclear missiles silently cruising the oceans.

Of course they carry nukes, they wouldn't be much of a deterrent otherwise!

There is probably a couple subs down there to be honest. Nobody will ever know.

It was years after the Falklands War that the government revealed we had 3 nuclear subs enforcing the exclusion zone around the island.

Anyone know if Ascension can resupply subs?
