The Falklands thread

I'm not sure which source your information is coming from, but can I suggest that you crosscheck your opinions with reality before posting, otherwise it's just embarrassing.

Bashing a country’s defence program is one thing, bashing it whilst spurting out totally wrong and unfounded information is quite another.

Well yes unfortunately, the last time i got any serious insight into the MoD was back when the Defence review was being carried out, I realise that the carrier sell off is not true any more (Pretty sure i heard something about it before), no doubt the aircraft comment is untrue now as well.

Of course doesn't mean the whole JSF program was ruined when it was stolen by the Chinese or whatever, the Pentagon even cancelled any further F-22s though probably more due to the rather expensive maintenance, i imagine having information about it stolen was the last straw.

I am the last person to say that i dislike war machines, i even design some myself, but its just infuriating when your entire advantage can be cut up by a hacked computer.

Neither as there are no such agreements in place and I cant see either wanting to get that far involved.
one of the arguments presented on the mothballing and possible sale of the carrier was that any shortcomings could be covered by our new agreements with the french. i also doubt at crunch time we could use another nations equipment but the framework is there. my comment was more tongue in cheek as i dont believe anything would come of it and it was just a excuse to cover our (politicians) failings.

we can however take advantage of all 3 nations using the same system for launch and recovery which is a big bonus, meaning we can have pilots and groundcrew trained and thus get the system into service quicker once its ready to enter.

How does that work? Do the carriers have joint Anglo/French/American crews? Or do we replace their crew with our own?
what about insurance, who pays if we crash it?
im pretty sure there are agreements covering this as we already share aircrew and equipment with other nations.

So we should take anything you post with a pinch of salt?

:D

Was watching the 10 O'Clock news show last night on C4, and this topic was mentioned. The guy who sounded American was a right tool, thinking that the people on the Island shouldnt have a say of who they want to belong to and that just because Spain may of colonised the islands at one point, the ex Spanish colony of Argentina should have control.

They want the oil that is located there at the end of the day, and quite frankly, they can sod off, thats british oil that is :D

No it isn't, its whomever finds it and all the taxes should go to the islanders.

Simple fact is that Cyber warfare is the new front line and we are sorely lacking at this time. Part of the issue is we sub contract parts of the whole process of design to product right to the Chinese.

Just about ever company in China has some government sponsorship, ownership or inbuilt control behind the scenes. Given time they will catch the west in technology, research and design in all areas. Given the size of the Country we should be worried.

Closed system need to be deployed more in these sectors, have nothing in the way of connections to external access. To be honest I'm more worried at the concept of a fire sale.
