The Falklands thread

Nope..... Just about the UK/US wanting to get there hands on all the OIL. Besides we already own the Falklands so do we need a war?

So what your point has nothing to do with the posts topic yet you think it makes sense? There are other posts regarding that topic why not talk about it there

We invaded Iraq, Afghanistan......

There isn't any oil in Afghanistan.

Blew Libya up (though the libyans thanked us).

Prior to last year Libyan oil was freely available and extracted by mostly Western firms anyway?

And now we are wanting yet more oil.

We've had the Falklands since 1833! The government has also publically stated none of the Falklands oil belongs to the UK - but to the Falkland Islands.

Indeed but there are rare metals in both Afghanistan and Pakistan. If both countries could be stabilised they would no longer need foreign aid.

I must say though I'm really enjoying all that free oil we got from Iraq. It certainly makes a change from paying $125 on the spot market which translates to 142p a litre petrol.

OH WAIT.

You are tiresome

now this is a odd one.

not sure what she thinks will come from this but i dont get it, a war memorial i can understand, but a museum to a failed invasion ?!

I say let's just get in there and give them a good kicking. Pre-emptive strike to put 'em in their place. :p

trolololol

Hollow words tbh, Argentina really have no appetite or resources for more conflict. It's surely just populist posturing.

The Argentinian PM on crack ? Never heard so much rubbish spoke. She's nearly as stupid as David Cameron . How these people even live amazes me.

Really odd. They must really be in the crapper to think 'Falklands' is a winning political strategy. Which reminds me, played a part in the downfall of the junta.

The population of the MALVINAS aren't native. The British put them there. You cannot fill islands with your own citizens and then claim you have consensus from the population. We have no more legitimacy in the South Atlantic then the Turks do in Nortrhern Cyprus. How about home-rule for the Falklands.

OTOH the population of Argentina aren't native, the Spanish put them there....

There is no aboriginal population of the Falklands, the descendants of the 1833 settlers there now is as close as you'll ever get to a native Falklander. Home rule, is in effect. The islands are free to govern themselves, and chose to remain as part of the UK voluntarily.

Given there was no indiginous population home rule is exactly what the Falkland Islands have as a British Overseas Territory.
