Also they were nice enough to offer to lend us the use of a US military tanker fully loaded with jet fuel, this made the Vulcan attack on the islands possible.

I doubt it will shut Argentina up though, but assuming they decide to maintain their British connection the fact they voted for it should weaken any support Argentina has with any UN countries.

Last I heared the islanders, in the argentine foreign ministers words, didnt have the right to self determination as ... "they aren't people". Just like the native south americans I guess?

says it all really. the argies dont want anything to do with the people and want to force talks with the uk rather than the people who matter in all of this.
 
That woman is a total nutjob, she's almost actually entertaining. :D

Although perhaps more scary is that i'm starting to think she actually believes they have a right to those islands, whereas upto now I thought she was just blowing smoke and mirrors.
 
Grade A nutter without a doubt, the referendum won't shut Argentina up, but it will prove once and for all that the Falkland island residents wish to remain British.

I’m looking forward to the results in 6 months time, islanders wish to remain British, Argentina turn round and claim the vote is fixed.

And of course the RAF base at the British-owned Ascension Island had nothing to do with it at all ;)
