"Best" and "Blends" in the same sentence has been known to send those who care in to all kinds of awkward frenzies :(

i know , i don't care, i like what i like. Arthur bell once said, he made a whiskey to try and appeal to everyone, thats why he made a drink blended from different single malts.

anyway, grouse is a fantastic blend.

Yea, but they're the ones who haven't had the good blends :p

the 21 yr? Is a bit. about $90ish I think, duty free.

The regular is cheap at $20. The 17 yr is great value for money at about $40-50. (prices are all duty free at a non-EU airport :p)

Try some of the single malts from the Islands. It sounds pretentious (and I suspect that part of what they sell appeals to that ideal) but it's really tasty. Much more depth and enjoyment :)

im not sure how founded this is, but i discovered last week at my grandada wake. ( he was a regular grouse man ) that cheese and whiskey are a perfect combination. the flavour unleased from the whiskley when your pallete has come into contact with cheese is something to be experienced.

try it.

I prefer irish whisky, but ive drunk scotch now and again, and glenfidigh is pretty nice for scotch.

I have a new whiskey benchmark since my honeymoon... Royal Lochnagar Select Reserve, nicest whiskey I've ever tasted (and probably ever will to be honest, given that both it and it's competitors are way out of my price range)

Grouse is a good 'cooking' whisky; a Mickey Rat just before bed helps one drop off.

For the uninitiated: Mickey Mouse = Grouse ...... Mickey Rat = A double.

Couldn't agree more - last time we were up at the Royal Lochnagar distilery we purchased a bottle of the special reserve, it smells like liquid christmas pudding and taste brilliant :)

Alternatively they also do a nice 12 year old at a respectable price I could recommend, as for the OP and his grouse - I'm not really a fan of blended whiskies :(
