I think there's some good ideas there to give the english youngsters a better chance than playing in the Premier League reserve teams for most of their careers.

There was a thread about it at the time, for a start most supporters of Football League teams are against B teams being inflicted upon them.

So only ~30% of starters in the Premier League these days are eligible to play for England, compared to ~70% 20 years ago. And of course 20 years ago, the English national team was the best in the world. So logically our current ineptness must be the foreigners' fault.

Personally I have no desire to see players like Falcao being prevented from coming to the Premier League just so Will Keane can get his shot at the big time.

The 32% vs 69% stat is pretty meaningless in my eyes because 32% English still represents more than enough players to form a squad of 23 with plenty of backup... it just means there is less medicore English players in the top flight than there used to be. Even some of the top clubs had some very ordinary squad players, you're not telling me the solution to English football is more Ian Selleys.

England did better in WC2014 than they did in WC1994.

The fact is if English players were so fantastic they would be beating the door down and forcing their way into teams or ripping up trees in the lower leagues.
