he's playing gerrard out of position, and he's one of, if not the biggest asset the club has.

Thats how i would line up the team, lucas is clearly an attacking mid, gerrard is clearly a centre mid.
you need to sell babel and ngog,. bring in a decent right or left mid and use benayoun as cover, a decent striker to partner torres and use kuyt as cover, and a decent centre back for general cover

I'd say he can pick and choose his moments lately mate. 
Think some of the Liverpool supporters need to think about Fulham, mid table team zero world class players but have reached the Europa league final and put out some decent teams.

I assumed such threads were frowned upon and i swear there is a massive Liverpool thread somewhere...actually that has probably got removed.
My opinion? He needs to go. He has tried and failed to re-vamp the squad after the Champions League success. He sold a few players and bought, well not a lot. Don't get me started on Robbie Keane...

against weaker teams yeah
a 3-5-2, the midfield will track back too, mascherano, gerrard, aquilani and benayoun especcially.
against stronger teams i would just play torres up front, ditch kuyt and play a 4-5-1

if they offered me the job, i'd take it. who wouldnt with what a manager's salary is? im not a liverpool supporter and if i had to choose a premiership team i would go for chelsea but i dont support any english team.
i reckon with a strong 5 man midfield they could hold onto the ball more, create better chances and with lucas in attacking mid instead of defensive mid you might see him becoming top assist/ goalscorer at liverpool. he wasnt brazil under 21 captain for nothing, just that idiot rafa has lost the plot now.

Might work i guess, although I am not a big fan of 3 defenders in any premier league match. Regardless of perceptions I dont think that there are any easy games in the premiership, none that I would feel comfortable with only having 3 defenders against. Then again I am a 4-4-2 person at heart.
While I agree that he has looked better in the attacking mid role rather than the defensive mid role, I should point out that he played for Brazil mainly in the def mid role rather than the att mid role.
You're right though he wasnt Brazil under 21 captain for nothing, in fact he wasnt Brazil under 21 captain at all. He was Brazil under 20 captain
