Dawkins stated more than once that evolution has no purpose but offered no evidence for why he believes this. Then went on to state that our purpose is to pass on successful genes to our offspring and that we are in fact a vehicle for successful genes to survive.
I find this slightly confusing...
I find this slightly confusing...
We are all temporary vehicles to pass on genes, we will all die quickly (relatively), but our genes will survive. I believe his no purpose statement is to get us thinking outside the box, as we all feel want purpose. i feel insecure without purpose, whether it's a wife, career or playing computer games.
If we have no purpose what's the point? Yet that's evolution and why most dislike it.
I understand that but why does he state evolution has no purpose, what evidence is there for this?
Because it doesn't? it's not conscious, it doesn't have a long term goal, it's just a collection of random mutations that happened to work out. (and very often didn't)
But aren't we beginning to understand that it's not random?

Remember the random mutations that aren't beneficial, just die off, well they might not be beneficial and survive just depends how its competitors change.
