Is it ever appropriate to give or receive shoulder massages to another man?

For example you're working on a project with some co-workers and you look tired and stressed out, and as a male co-worker is walking past your chair he stops and massages your neck/trapezius area. There are other people in the room. Inappropriate?

how about if you are holliday in an Asian country and there is an elderly man doing shiatsu massages or something like that. Surely that would be an appropriate scenario?

Sure.

Why would it be a problem doing it to another man?

Surely you're confident enough in your own sexuality to be able to touch another man's shoulders in a non sexual way?

Yes I've given plenty out shoulder massages out to friends :) I'm apparently quite good at them.

So your male co workers are giving you massages when you look tired.

Nothing wrong with a couple of bros giving each neck massages to relieve work stress.................lol.

Depends, some random person you work with, even a colleague your fairly friendly with, that seems a bit creepy - even if it was innocently/well intended.

I can see some scenarios with good/long term friends, etc. where it wouldn't be weird tho.

In the circumstance? Not cool. When I go looking for one by a pro in an establishment. Fine.

That's just reminded me of the scene in Hall Pass when he goes to the massage parlor looking for a little bit more than the massage. :D

Even if a friend did this I would be extremely uncomfortable with it, even more so than a stranger.

A guy giving you a massage to relax you. Come on! Gay? ;)

Right, seriously now.

I know that a massage isn't sexual, it is a form of relaxation and a great way to de-stress. The odd times that I have been to a spa I always request a women to provide the massage, as I'd feel uncomfortable with a bloke massaging me. I get no sexual pleasure from a massage but it just feels wrong stripping down and a guy massaging oils into your back and neck.

In work you obviously aren't going to take your top off and oils be introduced.. but christ what a weird concept and thought. Horrifying that thought is with some of the people I work with, thanks for the thought :(

Yeah I do this. But do keep it under 5 seconds and never touch bare skin, that is very homosexual indeed and your friend will get creeped out.

Some random old man gave me a shoulder massage when I was in Taiwan last year. Definitely one of the best massages Ive had!
