So, everything in red is going to be surrounded by hot gluegun glue, and capped with a 5mm thermal pad to get them in contact with the waterblock to offset some of the heat.

Should I do the ones highlighted in yellow also?

Offset the heat by offsetting the block contact and making the whole thing hotter

They dont make contact with the waterblock defacto... so the only cooling is passive... since im now going to be removing that passive cooling ability by surrounding them with glue... going to use a thermal pad to get them into contact with the waterblock....

Unless they dont get hot?

Though that doesnt answer my actual question, glue the ones circled in yellow or not?

The things you circled all appear to be chokes, I would wager they don't get hot as thermal pads aren't provided for them in any capacity. All you'd be doing with a glue gun would be voiding your warranty.

Well as it stands I have a useless card regardless.

OcUK wont take it back or RMA as coil whine isn't considered a fault.

I cant use the card as any 3d application makes the chokes *scream* to the point with headphones on, listening to music while playing a game, I can still hear it.

It's horrendous, I cant do work with them either as they make so much noise within half an hour I have a headache.

Selling them id get back next to nothing as I wouldn't be comfortable selling them without telling the new buyer. My problem there, but the point stands.

So this is pretty much last resort, if it works, good for me, if not they'd only be going in the bin anyway.

I know on Humbugs 290 the chokes are glued (guessing this is where the idea sprung from). Though this is done in production. No guarentee this will work as a DIY job.

As for the whine, if its really that bad OcUK generally accept RMA, I'm sure I've read somewhere they only accept coil whine based RMA in exceptional circumstances - i.e. when its deafening.

Have you sent the card to them to look at?

They wernt interested really.

Being honest with you coil whine is not classed as a recognised fault as it doesn't effect the graphics cards performance in any way shape or form. If they are within 14 days of receipt you can return them as unwanted.

Since they were out of 14 day period before I could test them (acrylic tubing build, go figure...) the answer is basically, no.

There's a chance that no amount of glue will cure it. I'd like to say it's 50/50, but that would be just pulling numbers out of the air :p

I had a GPU which squealed like a bitch for a while. As I used headphones when gaming, I didn't notice that the whine went away almost completely eventually. Get it looping Heaven while you're out/asleep for a while

4 days straight in Heaven.

Nothing.

Wow lol. I salute your dedication.

I cant tell you how much greif this issue is causing me, quite litterally just want to throw in the towl and forget finishing my new build alltogether. I should have had this finished weeks ago. :(

Unfortunately I have extremely sensitive hearing, so even "low" levels of coil noise are a big issue. :(

Even tempted to downgrade to 2 titans, purely out of desperation at this point. Yea its that bad, im willing to spend more money to get less performance just to be rid of the problem...

have you posted a video anywhere with the coil whine noise?

Both cards are water + acrylic, so getting a video is quite a pain. Though if absolutely needed I would...

Ive put a message in to cust support asking if theres anything they can do one last time before trying this.

What about flogging it on, take the hit, buy another one from Overclockers and test it within the DSR/OCUK Return period to the extent you would normally. If it still does it return rinse and repeat till you find one that doesn't do it? While I understand this isn't the most acceptable choice it will get you sorted.

A BIG thankyou to Bailey and the guys at systems support who have agreed to take the cards back as faulty and issue a refund so I can hunt out some silent (or at least quieter) cards.

You guys rock!
