The Grand Theft Auto thread.

I seem to remember VC being 2 CD discs.. 700mb a pop. There must be some compression on those files!

Sysreqs:

* Intel Pentium IV or AMD Athlon XP
* 256 MB of RAM
* 16X speed CD/DVD drive
* 1.55 GB of free disk space
* (+ 635 MB if video card does NOT support DirectX Texture Compression)
* 64 MB video card with DirectX 9.0 compatible drivers
* DirectX 9.0 compatible sound card with surround sound

Surely it can't be 15GB on Steam? :confused:

Steam says to begin with 1541mb (or there-abouts) and then go's on to download 1501mb for me. So yeah, 1.5gb is about spot on.

I really enjoyed GTA 4. Sure , it might not have been quite as ridiculous mission wise as SA, but the level of detail in the game was astounding. Plus, it was really pretty at times!

I love SA, still play it now as I found my PS2 lying around with it still in lol

Makes me sad that you cant just jump the airport fence and nick a plane on GTA4 :(

Vice City was the king. Probably the most personality of any game I've ever played.

I agree. 3 will always be a little special for that transition to 3D for the first time (I played the original and a little GTA2) - I think that Liberty City has a certain "feel" to it in the original as well that's not captured in SA/IV. GTA San Andreas was gigantic though, driving between the areas took forever!

gta3- groundbrekaing, addictve 1st ever sandbox 3d game, violent and cool....liberty city had nice feel to it too, distinctive areas and gangs

VC- Improvement on 3rd, bikes, swimming?, I like 80s so that was cool, Map too similar all over though

SA- I liek boyz n hood etc so was amazing for me..I disliked it less when I got out of hood but the world really opened up, san fran, vegas etc...just driving and lsitetning to tunes was fun

GTA4- I didnt liek the cahracters or the storyline, many missions were dull also, game was too serious, nice gfx and physcis and better shooting mechaincs.

GTA4 expansiosn- short but sweet better characters and story than original gta4.

I loved VC/SA and 4, but if i had to pick one, it would be San Andreas, driving between the 3 cities, with my own music blasting out, waiting for the other cars to knock me off the road was class!.

SA was by far the best for me. There was just so much to do , I ploughed so much time into that game its crazy. Played it on console and PC as well :o.

GTA4 was VERY limited in what you could do in comparison and for that reason i didn't enjoy it as much. I was expecting it to expand on SA but just had better graphics. Also the missions could only be done one way and the same things would happen each time on a car chase etc.

Does anyone else have the same bug on SA on PC where you have a mission to pick up some crates in some man's home that you are stealing from and the moment you pick up the crate the game spazzes and you just drop down dead?

It might be called home invasion.

I love the GTA series, I completed 3 and Vice City 100% but never got 100% in San Andreas for some reason. I completed all the main missions in Liberty City / Vice City stories but I didn't like them as much as the main 3 before them. I'm currently playing IV and I can actually enjoy it now it runs smoothly on my PC.

I used to play MTA and SA-MP a lot as well when I first played SA-MP I thought wow playing with other players in the world on the San Andreas map was epic.:D

Could you play these on game controllers or just from keyboard/mouse?

either though I couldnt map everything to pad but most I could.

For thso that played PC did you download advanced graphics mods and cars adn weapons etc..for 3,vc espeically GTASA????

I found the ENB series just makes it all bloomy.

Best thiong about PC is you can play full draw distance and high resolution plus easy to put custom tracks onto the radio.
