The Graveyard - What The Hell Are Steam Doing?

the devs are a-holes. The "game", is pure crap. Bad modelling, bad scripting (birds flying through buildings and floors now?) Bad animations, bad concept.. bad trees (a rotating plane is not a tree.)

The 'game' isn't marketed on it's fantastic cryengine graphics, so to complain about them is redundant.
In your personal opinion, the concept is 'bad' - but this is purely personal opinion. For what the game describes itself as, I feel it succeeds. I feel the intent and meaning behind the piece is portrayed well, and the concept is intriguing.

How this makes the developers "a-holes", I've no idea. Just because it's not your average, ten-a-penny fps doesn't mean it deserves to be shunned - if it was Machina made in the Source engine, I'm sure it'd be getting much more respect. I'm not telling you to like it, I just don't understand how anyone can be appalled by it!

someone made bit of money from crap artistic game tbh we should start making those games to , might as well earn something for a living

Maybe to them the game turned out extremely well for what they set out to do.

Attention brain-aches: Not liking something != It's Crap.

Go play some mind-numbingly repetitive FPS games now please, and leave the new IPs for people that will at least give it a chance.

imo who cares what they put on there store. The more the merrier, having a game you dont like there doesnt stop you buying a game you do like..

If steam had every game in the world would it be a bad thing?

I don't really see a problem, if you don't like it, don't play it/buy it. You don't go into a high street game shop and complain why they bother to stock a particular game just because you don't like it do you?

Personally In hate WOW (I hate all MMORPHS), but I don't constantly moan about blizzard making it. I just don't buy it (and never will). It's as simple as that, why you are moaning about The Graveyard being sold escapes me tbh. Then again, people who lead sad lives and have nothing better to do always have to have a good moan about something...

lol @ thread.

To debate the meaning of this "game", and even to completely dismiss it as art is your debate to make, but to deny it's right to exist because you don't understand it...

I like Steam, but it's hardly fair to label us a member of the Steam defense force on these grounds! How about a member of the freedom of expression defense force, it's a little bit harder to mock that isn't it :p

Anyway, bravo to those here that respect The Graveyards right to be published, even if you don't like it. I shouldn't have to applaud that, mind.

I myself wasn't hugely excited about the literal meaning behind the game to begin with. The fragility of life is a harder subject to give weight than it might sound, putting it at your fingertips was an interesting idea though.

Having labeled it as a "short video game" that is more like an 'interactive painting' was interesting though, it reminded me that art has no boundaries. While some of us don't really need to be reminded of this, the video game industry does.
