(3rd film will have the big fight and a fair bit more license to play with the story as Tolkkin got lazy writing it)
I'd imagine a big chunk of this film will be set in Mirkwood, and I'm hoping Peter Jackson doesn't follow the same old formula and focus only on the EPIC ACTION. It has the potential to be really creepy. He's got to somehow find the balance between the stunning photography we expect and the complete darkness described in the books.
As much as I love Lord of the Rings and feel he got a lot of the atmosphere right, including some genuinely chilling imagery, he failed to make the encounter with Shelob anything like it should've been. I'm scared of spiders and I didn't flinch through any of that.
Indeed. It was more like an 80's B-Movie than a character considered if not more than equally dangerous than a Balrog.
The Shelob scene felt weak, unrehearsed, cheap and filled with to much bravado.
I want to feel like a spider is about to jump out from behind my chair by the end of the Mirkwood scene
I wish we didn't have to wait so long for this and then another year for There and Back Again.
There and back again is coming out summer 2014, not a year later as has been traditional with the Tolkien movies.
