The hot chocolate velvetiser thread

So long... Waistline and wallet.

Pretty sure this is where i was getting my bulk from - https://bakery.keylink.org/products/dark-chocolate

Nowadays I just Amazon callebaut dark and milks, store it in big kilner jars and use it for baking too so always on hand.

I got my callets from Amazon too but found out they are quite a bit more expensive for a 1kg bag £22 instead of £16. Anyway, had a go and made a 450g bar of Dubai chocolate (bought too large moulds) , thought the tempering was going to be a pain but it was quite straight forward, got a nice glossy finish and good snap. Dont normally like Dubai chocolate that much due to the chocolate not being that great quality but with the Belgian callets, its superb.

I've been buying 180g bars from Waitrose recently, freezing them and feeding them into our food processor to grate them into 'flakes'. With 6 Velvetiser size cups a single bar it works out ok at £3 a bar iirc. Their own 72% Belgian chocoalte is quite tasty this way.

Hmmm, I am currently working through 4x Wittards stuff, which is lovely but expensive at some £10-13 for a 250g container. Your suggestion is one I never thought about!

The Belgian callets works out £17 a kilo which is much cheaper for premium Belgian chocolate https://www.cfw.co.uk/cfw-catalog/chocolate/Callebaut-Chocolate/Callebaut-Milk-Chocolate compared with the Wittards

Pendragon is also very reasonable for Belgian chocolate and pretty good taste wise and have a good choice https://pendragondrinks.co.uk/belgian-style-hot-chocolate/

In warranty? If not I remember around now they usually do deals on them. We replaced ours and signed up to that VIP club and got it for 65 or so.

Plus the adverts which are inundating the TV currently claim they have a much improved mkII velvetiser now, so it'll be an upgrade rather than just a replacement.
