I have noticed a "new" service designed for use by motorists.
A short-code number you can call to find out traffic info.

Now, is there something I have missed or is this an incredibly daft business idea.

As we all know it's illegal (and i.m.o dangerous) to use a regular phone whilst driving. Some people have hands free kits but the vast majority of drivers don't.

How can this business expect to return a decent profit?

I believe calls are charged at around 1-1.5pence per second.

Probably because a lot of people still use their phone?

Or you're suppose to use it before you set off therefore missing the traffic?

Never used it really so I dunno what info they supply sorry. I just switch my TA on my stereo :p

Orange do a similar service, it works out where you are and what direction you are going by your signal, problem is you only ever use it in jams so it just tells you how long you are likely to be sat somewhere...
