Over the two days of testing the room temp changed by 6c - I didn't notice, but this massively effects test data.
Just been doing so fan testing on my Thermalright HR-03 GT as part of my next project
Was going to just blow air at it (from a case fan)
But will now be using it as an exhaust vent - gpu 30c ish lower
I know the data clearly shows that blowing cool air at the HR-03 will give better temps that pulling air through it.
But I'm not going to dump all that heat in my case
Test bench setup
Cpu cooled by thermalright Macho (passive)
Bequite Efficient power 600w (cooling Macho)
HTC-1 thermometer
FurMark 1.10.2 run for 15min (6v NB-S2 testing was run for 10mins)
Gpu allowed to cool to 25-28c between tests (~5c above ambient)
Photo taken just before running Furmark (fan IS spinning - it's just the flash)
Dawn of War (DofW) Max temp are after a Hour of gaming
Comments:
Gpu throttled at 99c
Moved rooms half way through testing - pc hardware on cutting board (moved as one)
Didn't take screenshot (sorry)
Photo's of every setup on request
Results:
Case fan (semi passive) airflow much worse that active cooling
TY-140 position (due to it's size) made little differance
Adding a shroud gave higher temps (push and pull)
Delta Temps give more accurate data - see gaming temps (bottom of table)
Temps with fans Pushing air are slightly affected by fan position
Push significantly better that Pull (all fans)
Temps with fans Pulling are significantly affected by fan position
NoiseBlocker NB-S2@9v Push + Centred
Fan pushing air & Centred, best results - Just better that 140mm TY-140
Noctua NF-S12-1200@9v Pull + Mobo Edge
Fan Pulling air and out of position gives worst results
Shrouds give worst results
Over sized fan - position makes little differance
