the installation failed in the safe_os phase with an error during boot operation

Hi all

Just put together a new computer for my parents for Windows 10 and I'm getting the above error when trying to install, whether that be from USB or DVD. What I've done so far is install their retail copy of Windows 7, activated it, and now trying to install Windows 10 as a clean install. I've tried searching for the error online and I've found some information but not a solution.

Does anyone know what the error is and how to resolve it?

Have you done an upgrade to windows 10 before the clean install? I believe you need to activate your license via upgrades before a fresh install is possible.

try it with the bare minimum going.

if you have a SSD and a HDD try with just the disk you want the OS installed on too

can you list the rest of the PC spec as well please and another thing is if its a SSD make sure sata ports are set to achi

I get the same error on my Samsung laptop. A bit of searching has led to it being the WiFi card that is the problem.

Apparently the card needs to be removed for it to install correctly but I'm still not clear whether the card will then work once it is reinstalled. Search for issues with the Samsung Q430 and you'll find various Microsoft Answers threads for it.
