been trying to do an in place upgrade to win 10 for days now and keep getting the same error

0x8007001F - 0x20006
the installation failed in the safe_os phase with an error durring REPLICATE_OC operation.

I have trawled the ten forums and MS support pages and pretty much followed all the trouble shooting steps everyone says i.e - unplug all USB, disable AV, stop all unecesssary background services etc.

I downloaded the Window Media Creation Tool and select the option upgrade this PC, have run chkdsk and scans on the SSD that has win 7 sp1 on it to upgrade from and that all checks out fine.

So i am at a loss as to what to do next.

Clean install isn't an option at this stage as I have got some apps that I need for at least another 6 months that I don't have install exe files for (work related stuff)

Any ideas ?

Have you tried downloading the iso, extracting it and then running the upgrade from there?

You can download the iso from the creation tool

Got safe boot enabled in the bios?

Tried all the usual suspects. Last chance saloon was bios update and then I bricked the board followed by snapping a load of caps off as I tried to take the cmos bat out. Then to top it off as I pulled my hand out of the case I ripped it open on the corner and literally bled all over the guts of my rig. At that point I just went to the ocuk store and got a Z390 Asus strix, I7 9700K coffee and an rtx2700 super and a ew ssd in a massive rage quit moment. I needed an upgrade anyway.

They arrive Friday , even shelled out for pre 1030 delivery, so I reckon by 4pm I will be on win10 all be it on a brand new machine and over a grand later lol.

Fortunately steam, origin and some work apps I need were on a different drive sober least that's a salvage and my mate wants to buy my old 6700k , so it could be worse I guess

Man, that escalated quickly!

Hopefully the new build goes together smoothly :)
