had a search couldn't fine a thread specific to iPad Air accessories.

im looking to buy an ipad air but would also like a slimline and light weight case that protects both front and back for when im out and about.

i dont fancy the apple smart case, its just too expensive

any recommendations?

I'll go for something genuine leather (not **** PU leather like 99% of them). It wears and feels much nicer. I've got a Belkin leather case at the moment and it's amazing. Only cost £20 so not much more than the cheapo stuff you get.

I think this time round I'm going to go for a smart cover, probably sticking with the Apple ones, and a slip case which fits the Air+cover for when it goes in my bag.

I'm looking for a clear rear skin to protect the back of mine, much like the Wrapsol ones before they went bump. Anyone got any recommendations? The Skinomi stuff looks interesting.

I came on this forum to ask EXACTLY the same question. £35 for a simple cover is beyond a joke.

What would be epic is a case with a clear rear cover and a nice coloured smart cover. The Invision one's look great. Hopefully they will be out soon.

Argh, I didn't realise - this time round the smart cover is only available in poly, and the smart case is leather. I just want a cover but poly is nasteh. Balls. Might wait it out and see what's released by 3rd parties cover wise as I don't want a full case that adds a load of weight.

Rainforest site are doing this case for £3.99 delivered

TeckNet New Apple iPad Air Smart Case - Front & Back Full Protection Smart Cover - Full Grade Leather (PU) with Micro Fibre Inner Cloth - Included and Stylus Pen For New Apple iPad Air 5rd Generation 2013 Version, Life-Time Warranty - Wine Red tecknet case for £3.99 delivered, (released on November 17, 2013)

I liked the look of the smart case from Detroit's video but on MacRumors I haven't read anything good about it.

I've bought a Gelaskin to protect the back from scratches and such: http://www.gelaskins.com/eboy/nyc/ipad-air this one is a bit wacky. I had a Gelaskin on my 1st gen ipad and it was tricky to put on because of the shape of the back, but the iPad air is basically flat at the back so I imagine it will be far easier. The front wasn't too bad to put on.
I'm probably going to buy the smart cover or similar to protector the front though.

I've rarely ever taken my previous 2 generations out of the house often so I'm not looking for something which will protect it loads.

Yeah I was looking on MR and a lot of people aren't being wowed by the offiial case (e.g bits not lining up, the corners lifting etc). Ack. Might just wait a few weeks till manufacturers get their Air products sorted - e.g. lots of them now don't have auto wake/sleep.

Probably go with an Otterbox, protected and saved various iPhones and iPads thus far.
Midprice range, but excellent protection, something I can't see in the smartcover or smartcase.
I doubt either would help in a fall.
