*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Does anytihng need to be done to get it working? I got a couple of my mates to send me some test pics to see if the mms thing works and I haven't received any links from o2.

This is a brand new contract though so do i have to login and set something up?

TIA

I got an MMS and I got a link to my O2 website with password.

Got the pic and then saved it to my album. Easy. Sending pics to another phone is obviously harder though

What's the deal with mms? I've never understood it. I can send an email with a picture to anyone in the world. I dont need mms for that. Am i missing somethibg with the functioality? I've never used mms and never felt the need to. I wish it would die as it seems to me to be a throwback to when fast data speeds weren't yet a reality. Same deal with video calling. Waste of time.
Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's not used a lot by a lot of people.

I don't really consider myself a big picture message freak but I've received quite a few from friends in a variety of situations who basically just want me to see what they're seeing right there and then. Expecting people you message to a) read their email in a timely fashion or b) even pick up email on their phone is kinda ridiculous.

If you're going to argue that iPhone "doesn't need MMS" then you might as well argue that it doesn't need to do SMS either when regular email could do the job just as well (using the same logic).

Not arguing that it doesn't need it. For me, personally it doesn't need it and I'm glad it doesn't have it.
MMS isn't a required feature for me and - I'm willing to wager - the vast majority of users.

The vast majority of iPhone users sure, but not the vast majority of mobile phone owning public - all of the statistics I have seen show that it is widely used in the UK. The rise of cameraphones have popularised it massively, plus as an industry standard instant message guaranteed delivery service it's as relevant as SMS is, in my opinion.

That's not a dis on the iPhone as such, I'm just pointing out that just because you don't use MMS and you believe others don't either doesn't make it true.

Hardly anyone I know can be bothered to set up email on a mobile phone and a lot wouldn't have a clue how to even if they wanted to. MMS is easy because it just works.

i got sent an MMS im a new iphone 3g user. I didn't receive anything no text to go and download the image.

just seemed to get lost in the nether.

my battery was awful with wireless turned on.

turn it off and the battery bar doesn't move.

I only turn wireless on when i need it.

Edit just got my mate to test this. O2 text me with a weblink and pin code.
