Forum posts on here for example, my old brick of a Note 2 I can long press and save, same gif on the iphone turns into a long winded mega operation or just saves a still picture. :p

Ah - yeah it can be a bit weird. I think a lot of the time, it does actually save the GIF - but if you view it in your Camera Roll, it doesn't animate :D

So you might find if you send it via IM, you'll see the full animated GIF and not the still image you see in the Camera Roll

It is a bit ridiculous now that we have live photos. If ever there was a time to focus on gif support, it was to coincide with the release of live photos...a year ago.

04/10/16 iPhone 7 plus 256Gb delivered ahead of estimated time, it should have been 12 - 18 Oct. The tracking was a bit strange, it tracked to The Netherlands and was showing "Out for Delivery" I used live chat and the chap said they were shipped on mass, he then gave me a new tracking number ans sure enough it arrived late yesterday afternoon.

Coming from Android and not having had an iPhone since the very first ones will take a bit of getting used to.

Screen Protectors

Just a quick question, having spent the most I have ever spent on a phone I am just a little paranoid about the screen scratching.

The phone will be in my pocket or on my desk most of the time so just everyday use. How are folks looking after their screens, are you tusting it not to scratch or what screen protection are you using.

I have never used a screen protector and never scratched my screen. As long as you aren't stupid and don't put it in pockets with lots of keys it will be fine. My iPhone 6 screen is still scratch free.

So sacked off my order with EE today, my local apple store had 1 iphone 7 plus black in 128gb. So called EE and cancelled my order with them and moved over to a sim only deal, 16GB data, £19.99 a month. Not as good as the 3 deal thats knocking around but Ill get much faster speeds and more reliable connection.

Not to mention wifi calling, 4g calling and visual voicemail. I really don't get it when iOS users pick other operators when reception isn't a factor - EE really is that much better.

Never even heard of visual voicemail, was thinking of something different, what's it like?

It's nice. You don't call a number to listen to your voicemails, they're listed on your phone along with the calling number instead. Tapping on it plays the message or you can swipe and delete if you're not interested.
In iOS 10 there is voicemail transcription too where the phone coverts the recorded message into text. That feature is currently in beta at the moment but only in the US. Hopefully it will get rolled out here too.

Just a note about 3 - I used to be with them for years however in recent times I have found their data to be really congested, so much so that I left them for O2. It's nice to get reception inside buildings now, such as Tesco or work.

That said O2 cost a lot more and I'm not 100% happy with them. Will look to Vodafone and EE come January when my 12 month SIM free contract is up.

How do I enable visual VM again? Always used to work and I never did anything to set it up.

I'm still with O2, so may give them a call.

Sorted after a call to O2.

The tracking number Apple give you is the one to track the phone from China to Europe, usually the Netherlands. It won't work on the usual DHL site, you have to use this one:
https://beta.dhl.com/be-en/express/track-now.html

If you speak to DHL they will give you another tracking number, which is the one that tracks the phone from the Netherlands to the UK and to your door.

The whole while this is going on, the Apple tracking system will actually show real time updates but the dates can vary by 1 or 2 days. Mine showed on Apple that it would be delivered the day before when the DHL one was showing, the DHL one was right.

I can highly recommend Rhinoshield; both their front/back protectors are brilliant and also, the bumper too :) Had it of my iPhone 6 for nearly 2 years and worked exceptionally well

All these things come out of the same set of factories.. seriously.. The issue with iPhone 6/7 ones tends to be that they don't reach right to the edges because of the curve on the screen. Whether they do really isn't down to whether they're premium or not, just down to the cutter guide they use.

The issue with ones that go right to the edge is that they chip really easily.

Anyway... having done films (bleurgh) and glass.. I've taken to using these liquid nano jobs and crossed fingers, that together with the inherent screen strength seems to be working.
